Ifeanyi Onyedika, a former Nigeria international, has labelled his NNL club, Abakaliki FC, as the real giant-killers of the 2025 President Federation Cup competition after knocking out NPFL giants Enyimba, Completesports.com reports.
Onyedika, MON, was a member of the 1980 Green Eagles squad that won the African Cup of Nations on 22 March in Lagos after a 3-0 victory over Algeria at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
The 69-year-old former Dolphins of Port Harcourt coach spoke to Completesports.com after his club, Abakaliki FC, stunned NPFL side Enyimba 2-0 in a 2025 President Federation Cup Round of 16 tie at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta State, on Wednesday, 16 April 2025.

Chukwudi Okoro headed in from Eni Daniel’s cross as Abakaliki took a first-half lead. Eni Daniel himself scored the second for the NNL side, giving them a commanding 2-0 advantage against the four-time Cup winners and two-time CAF Champions League champions.
“I’m delighted with our victory. We’ve won other games before now, but I think this is the biggest, the sweetest. We’re now the real giant-killers,” Onyedika said.
“We defeated Yobe Stars and Katsina United in the Round of 64 and Round of 32 matches. Today, we’ve convincingly beaten the almighty Enyimba, and I think that tells a lot of stories about us.”
Abakaliki FC will next face Nasarawa United, another NPFL club, in one of the quarter-final fixtures. However, Onyedika says he is not losing sleep at all.

“No doubt, no two games are ever the same. There are matches you win that impact positively on your team — and this one against Enyimba is just that.
“It has given the players confidence, and that confidence will carry them through the next fixtures. So, we look forward to the quarter-final game against Nasarawa United.
“We can only go back home now, analyse this game, correct a few mistakes, and prepare for the next one,” Onyedika submitted.
