Why It Would Be Difficult To Sack Peseiro —NFF Board Member

A member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Executive Council, Nse Essien, has explained why it would be difficult to sack Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro.

The Eagles recorded another disappointing draw in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers after they had to come from behind to force a 1-1 draw with Zimbabwe.

Walter Musona opened the scoring with a long range free-kick in the first half before Kelechi Iheanacho equalised for the Eagles.

Following the draw against Zimbabwe, calls for the sack of Peseiro has intensified.

But Essien has stated that relieving the Portuguese will not be easy because he is still under contract.

“If you check the internet almost everyone is asking for the sack of the head coach,“ Essien said in a video posted on X.

“It’s unfortunate that out of six points we have just two and we find ourselves in very precarious situation.

“When people say NFF should sack the head coach, we didn’t employ him, if you look at it the Sports Ministry employed him and we suppose to have paid their salaries but up till now they’ve not paid a dime.

“If you sack the coach now who pays for compensation? So that’s where we find ourselves. Not a dime has been paid to this coach who is earning about $70,000 every month.

“We have to respect his contract but if we have the money to give to him we are going to relieve him definitely, we are not happy.“

The Eagles will resume in the World Cup qualifiers in June 2024 with a home game against South Africa on matchday three.

Have the NFF paid off Rohr fully? I’m sure this site engineer we call a coach was given specific targets with respect to the AFCON. If those targets aren’t met, he can then gey sacked without compensation. By the way,if the coach hasn’t been paid a dime since, how’s he still working as the coach? Why can’t he call out his employers? There’s more to this

When will the NFF leadership be sacked? Nigerians arrogantly believe their team is fantastic As we now see, that is not the case.

Of course, it will be hard to sack a coach you’re sharing salary with.
E go dey hard gidi gan. If they try it, he will expose them.
How incredible that Peseiro hasn’t been paid a dime out of his monthly $70k salary! Hahaha, abi have they been sharing the whole thing, leaving Peseiro with nothing?
Coaches salaries unpaid, players’ bonuses unpaid?
Even if the results remain poor, as long as money is there to be shared, our officials are ok! They don’t give a damn about our football or Naija fans. All they care about is sharing money.

We need a coach our players can understand and communicate with.
When Peseiro speaks, all I hear is EH, EH, EH.
At his press conferences, na so so EH, EH, EH.
      EH, EH, EH.
      EH, EH, EH.
      EH, EH, EH.
You can imagine what it’s like for the players. Their coach is talking to them, and all they hear is EH, EH, EH.
His interpreters are likely also struggling. Nobody understands the guy when he’s speaking.
HOW THE HECK WILL PLAYERS EXECUTE TACTICAL INSTRUCTIONS ON THE PITCH IF THEY CAN’T UNDERSTAND THE GAFFER?

            So it’d payback time. Hahaha

Isn’t interesting hearing this from this NFF Dude, its obvious Nigeria football is dead except their interest after all there Godfather (The Druggie criminal certificate forger) in Aso Villa is busy globetrotting & borrowing money to continue to bribe the Corrupt Injustices to remain in Office with his criminal gangs & there state governor’s, They should rush to Aso Villa & get share of the largesse & pay off Peisairo as soon as possible since they are not the one that employe him. Bunch of Moronic beings. Adieu 2026 world cup qualifiers for Super Eagle.

Maybe Davido can donate to NFF the money paid to him by Mr thief pinnick which was stolen from the glass house before his tenure ends.

OBO abeg run this 1 as you promised to double the money and donate it to an accountable and responsible football administration. NFF will be hold responsible if this can be done and you announce it so they can pay off that fraudulent coach….LOL

Rohr destroyed this team, the boys always prefer to keep possession than make runs at teams. A Nigerian number 10 would prefer a back pass rather than take on opponents. So poor in the name of possession and not wanting to track back to win back lost balls

See the way Colombia and Brazil.played, they attacked each other with speed and aggression in the final third but Nigeria, they are too full of themselves to penetrate and get fouled for free kicks. Rather pathetic team and coach. The mind of the coach is tinned ANTI clockwise. Siasia team can never play like this.

Siasia’s team never played like this but never qualified for Ordinary AFCON TWICE….LMAOoo

Rohr destroyed the team by leading us to ALL tournaments with suspicious ease and to the AFCON podium after we missed 3 out of 4 AFCONs.

The destruction of Rohr was so bad that 2 coaches after him have not been able to rectify it and match his output, and 2 years later we are about to fail at both AFCON and the World Cup qualifiers back to back

With people like you still coughing out lies like these on daily basis, we truly deserve not to go to the 2026 WC….LMAOoo

@Coache Siasia and Manu Garba are the two coaches that endured Nigerians with the Kind of football that we crave before the chains of average pretenders started seizing control of our football house till date . The few times that Siasia didn’t do the magic which is normal to have a dip in football that is what an unappreciative fan is trying hard to use to belittle him. Also the only time Garba failed in his assignment by falling to a star studded Brazil led Gabriel Jesus at the U20 WC KO stage this same haters started using this as yardstick to taunt him and completely ignored Manu’s Past Achievements. Even My greatest of all time Pep doesn’t always win but what I love about him is his consistency, and these are the traits of Manu and Siasia. I remember at a point Siasia Eagles caused Argentina to loose embarrassingly before FIFA asked for a replay Lol due their numerous policy. A real enthusiasts with an eye for Greatness will hold Siasia Highly so you shouldn’t be surprised when if haters blinded by hate can not see what the Just sees!!!!

Rohr saga has taught them lesson. This is the same country they are shouting that should go for world class coach? Country that is struggling to pay a meagre $70k dreaming of hiring coach in the level of Van gal, Cocu, Renard etc.. How can they be able to pay off if they terminate a contract abruptly. I pity some Nigerians fans. Sack Pesseiro my foot. Those are praising the former minister that man is the one who destroy Nigeria football and history will never be kind to him. Sack Rohr, sack rohr Una eyes don clear

How much are all the average countries that are tactically matching Peseiro or Rhor Eagles paid? The Lesotho, CAR, GB, Zimbabwean etc coaches that got the better of us their coaches don’t even receive 50k and you’re trying to say 70k can’t afford better coaches for National team in Africa. If they like they should leave him it is all of us that will not witness Eagles coming to America and the players Values will also tank because clubs like World Cup players in their teams due to FIFA appearance reward to club participating players!!!

The nff would not say and deny they didn’t have enough time to sack this guy. When his contract expired the first time, that should have been the best time to sack him but those wicked corrupt idiots decided to renew his contract bcs he agreed to be sharing his salary with them. Why on earth would the nff decide to renew the contract of a man who has lost almost all of his friendly matches and some crucial competitive games??? Why???? What a country! The disaster you tried to avoid by sacking a good man is already here with us. In fact, we are already drowning in the disaster. And surprisingly in all of these, odegbami is yet to utter a word!!! Chei! Not even “pim”from him! During rohrs day, csn was his writing pad of garbage after every match. Even after some matches we got very good crucial results, you’d see him here with his epistles of garbage. Dragging the name of a good man in mud so that he’d be replaced with someone who would ensure he (and they) never go hungry. And in came pesero and gbam, he disappeared from the scenes like a miserable ghost. Shameless fool like him.

Guys don’t loose hope yet Nigeria can still make it to world cup via play off. But like I have been saying it will this coach even qualify us for play off game.

I hope eagles will be rooted to the bottom of this group.

Until some office holders are sent to prison Nigeria and Nigerians will continue to suffer . Both Mozambique and ivory coast are terror to their host. Don’t expect much from these players they know those running football in this country are stupid and fools, why would they want to die for such a country. Senegal has been consistent for the past 10 years . Until all super eagles fan world wide begin to stage protest nothing will change. Imagine the oloriburuku nff saying they don’t have money to sack a coach you just renewed his contract. Thank God am not a witch I would have gone all these bastards down. Solution let Nigeria stay away from football for 5 years to plan the way forward

The problem of Nigeria football is alcultic people in NFF, Eguaveon Don join them! The highest problem they have is keshi, that’s why they successfuly deleted him spiritually and they chase Oliseh, he ran away. Our senior defender balogun talk about bonuses, they came after the guy. Why victor Mose quit national team ! Because of NFF embezzlement of match bonuses and allowances. I don’t know if EFcc is made for only yahoo Boyz! I pity fans who still dey watch Nigeria match. You can’t blame those players.

with all those who have hand in this nasty predicament in our Nigeria football, l will say this, OGUN-OBA ne-edo will destroy all of you so much that your children’s children will suffer what we are going through today. In Jesus Name. No world Cup back-to-back. In 2021, super eagle beat Lesotho 7 to 2 aggregate.
Nigerians should organize a large protest in Lagos, Abuja, Benin City, Port Harcourt, Kano City and Warri even in London and Peris to demonstrate our anger in the worst possible way. This fraudulent coach must be fired now, now.
If Davido can help us pay off this fraudulent coach, the better we shall be as he is our National hero.

My question is if NFF cannot pay $70K per month, cannot pay player bonuses, and is always trying willy-nilly to pocket FIFA payout to the Super Falcons, then WHAT EXACTLY DO THEY DO OR EXIST FOR!!!???

Even when FIFA intervenes with developmental subventions, they still cannot pay. Where does all the money go? Pinnick was playing jamboree with a whole $84K the other day, yet left without paying his carpenter coach and SE allowances.

Why does NFF always expect the sports ministry or Glo to handle the salaries of SE coaches? Is Dare who championed the sack of Rohr and approved the employment of this supposed “coach” still the sports minister? Does the new sports minister care?

Who will bail Nigeria out of this mess? Which indigenous Nigerian coaches (non of whole will play a draw at him to Lesotho) will NFF agree to pay $70K? Walahi, I wish military coups were possible at the NFF!!! Yet, FIFA says the government cannot take over or interfere, yet the government thought the sports ministry is expected to pay the salary of its coaches!! What a messed up arrangement!!!

Why don’t you pay what you can afford? $30 – $50K to a consortium of Amuneke, Finidi, Daniel Ogunmodede, Egbo, Carl Ikeme/Enyeama, Finidi, Olofinjana etc. Like 3 or 4 of them.

Tinubu, Adenuga, Otedola, Elumelu should please help us pay off Paseiro so he can go. Let’s go with Amuneke, Finidi of Enyimba, Ogunmodede of Remo Stars, and Carl Ikeme for January Afcon for a total of $50K, please. The situation is not irredeemable. Let’s start now!!!

Kel I respect the fact that you brought a combination of clear football lovers to be tried just as Ghana did to nick the ticket from us using a combination of ex Black stars players with Dortmund youth coach Oto Addo leading the team which worked well for them. The only sad thing is that our voices here are not taken into consideration because the person sharing money with Peseiro doesn’t care about us and doesn’t even read CS.

Basically you are stuck with him because you can’t pay off his contract. That’s not the way serious proactive sports administrators act.  Why is everything about money in that country?  A coach who is not performing should be fired and new one brought in regardless of cost. It’s a result oriented business. That’s the reason you need to follow stringent process to hire them in the first place.
