Liverpool manager Arne Slot says he’s confident Florian Wirtz will score more goals for the club.
Amid another slightly torturous display, Wirtz was a shining light, poking home his first ever Liverpool goal and comfortably taking the man of the match award.
The Reds have now won three Premier League matches in a row for the first time since August.
Reacting after the game, the Dutch tactician in a chat with the club’s website, stated that Wirtz is starting to show why Liverpool splashed out on him this summer.
“I’m quite sure about it, it was a relief for him,” the Reds boss said.

“This I could see after his reaction, after he scored the goal. And the same I saw with his team-mates, I think they were really happy for him, scoring that first goal, because in football, rightly so maybe, we mainly get judged on results and individuals mainly get judged on goals and assists and we sometimes tend to forget what else there is to do during a game.
“I think he’s had multiple good games for us, but I also feel that he gets better and better every single game he’s playing for us, gets fitter and fitter, and he was getting closer and closer to his first goal, and it’s not a surprise to me that he scored one today.
“But he would probably be the first one to understand that one goal is not enough and hopefully he will score much more goals for us than only this one.
“But I also liked his performance during large parts of the game today. I think he was special in a lot of moments.”
