Victor Osimhen is confident the Super Eagles will put up a good showing at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
The three-time African champions secured a place at the 2023 AFCON finals after a hard-fought 3-2 win against the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone in Monrovia last month.
The West Africans were eliminated in the second round by Tunisia at the last edition of the competition in Cameroon.
Osimhen is however confident the Super Eagles will perform better this time around.
“We have a great squad to do well, I’m proud of the team,” Osimhen told Wazobia FM Radio Lagos.

“We fight for the team because it’s a privilege to play for Nigeria.
“We expect greatness, we will aim for the trophy.
“We have experienced players and leaders like Ahmed Musa, Kenneth Omeruo and Wilfred Ndidi, who have been helpful to the younger players.
“I know some of the fans have given up on us (after the Eagles failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup), but I hope they will come back to support us.
“They will see a different Super Eagles, we’re working very hard.
“We will have a good tournament and if God wills, we will win it.”

Thank you osimhen, but with the continous invitation of Musa,Omeruo,Etebo, and other spent forces.That might be wishful thinking.Players over 40 jostling for places will not make Eagles soar as expected.Grade C mercenary coaches won’t help either.It’s so painful that during your peak,the fortunes of super eagles nosedived for obvious and correctable reasons.There is really nothing super about the Eagles anymore.THERE WAS A TEAM.
UNLESS IF THE COACH PASEIRO CLOSE DOOR AGAINST IRRELEVANT, BENCH-WARMER PLAYERS AND OTHER PLAYERS HAVE THE SAME MENTALITY, COMMITMENT, AGGRESSIVENESS LIKE OSIMHEN, THEN WE CAN ACHIEVE WINNING THE 2024 AFCON.
** BUT IF COACH PASEIRO STILL INSISTING ON INVITING BENCH-WARMERS PLAYERS LIKE MUSA, OMERUO, ONUACHU, ARIBO, IHEANACHO, THEN THE OUTCOME IS GOING TO BE FAILURE.
***** PASEIRO, WE NEED IN-FORM & FIT PLAYERS LIKE CHUBA AKPOM, DESSERS, OSIGWE, EBUEHI, MOFFI, ONYEDIKA, ALHASSAN, ORBAN, BONIFACE TO ACHIEVE THE DREAM OF WINNING 2024 AFCON.
I think Osimhen is convident to do well in Cote De Ivore tournament 2024, cause he has potential to do for Super Eagles; but this though needs many things to be presented to SE just like good sponsorship by NFF, Coach Pesiero must recall strong and decipline and dedicated players who can die for white and green jersy, also with thoes players Peseiro must put a total football tactic for SE, that means attackers must defend when SE loose the ball, defensive midfielders must cover well, play pressing and drastic football and so do the back line; NFF must organize a quality friendly matches for SE to prepare well for this tournament, NFF must hire pyschologist and nutrition doctors so that they can creat new SE with quality in performance; if NFF and coach Peseiro do these things, SE will do better or they can win this tournament.
Provided the NFF invited the correct players for the competition.
Let’s talk less and do more on the pitch.
Also there are important things Peseiro must do; they are overhaul changes in Super Eagles pattern of play and the players who can perform this pattern; the pattern is derastic and strong defensive style of play mixed with pressing and silding playing; excellent tackles and interceptions;recalled players for SE must have descipline, dedication,enthusisam to defend for white and green jesry; Peseiro must change flopped and lazy players with active and quality players especially in defensive midfield and center back like Alhassan Ibrahim, Anderson Esiti,Frank Onydika,Daniel Daga, Vincent Onovo thoes in defensive midfield; Tosin Adarabioyo,Calib Okoli,Tyronne Ebuehi,Jordan Toranurigh in center defence and sides backs(right,left)also peseiro can recall new small players like Nosa Edward Obarentin SSC Napoli left back also left back Solomon Agbalaka of Russian club FC Sochi; he must dump old and flopped players like: William Troost Ekong, Ola Aina, Oghenekaro Etebo, Frank Oneyka, Francis Uzoho, Maduka Okoye in goalkeeper’s side then he can recall new goalkeepers like Siwsszerland player Sebistian Osigwe, Sturm Gratz Okonkwo, and Rivers United goalkeeper Victor Sochima; also NFF must inact a code of conducts which Peseiro must excute on SE recalled players this code contains to an orders on the players that any recalled player to SE must play seriuosly with committment and descipline and dedication with strong and enthusiasm playiny as he plays when he plays for his club, that means his country is higher than his club.NFF must creat an excellent environment for SE preparing like excellent hotel, aircraft, paying coaches thier salaries on time , also paying players thier winning bonuses on time, preparing excellent matches for SE especially with Northern Africa teams like :Morocco, Tuisia, Egypt and great West Africa teams like: Cote De Ivore, Senegal, Ghana, Cameroon; if Peseiro does thes things, I wiil swear he can win the next AFCON. Cup in Cote De Ivore 2024.
I Forget in attacking side he must recall strong attackers now like Victor Boniface, Gift Orban, Cyriel Dessers, Chopa Akpom. He can play with 4-3-4 if the rival is not strong enough to compete Super Eagles without complacency; if the rival or competitor is strong SE can play with 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2 or 4-5-1 is siutable against strong teams.
