Chelsea striker Liam Delap has disclosed that teammate Cole Palmer played a key role in convincing him to join the club.
The 22-year-old joined from Ipswich for £30m, with the Blues fighting off competition from Manchester United, Newcastle, and Everton to secure his signature.
In a chat with the club’s website, Delap said that he wanted to follow in Palmer’s footsteps of success at Chelsea.
“I don’t like too much information. Ultimately, it was my decision, so I kind of just wanted my head to be clear.

“I spoke to him a little bit, asked him what I needed to ask him. He told me what I needed to know.”
When asked whether he believes in the curse, which counts Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Romelu Lukaku, Gonzalo Higuain, Alvaro Morata, Radamel Falcao and Fernando Torres among its supposed victims, Delap replied: “No, I’m not that type of person.
“It’s something that people talk about but it doesn’t mean anything to me. It’s something that’s related to strikers so I chose it.”
With Nicolas Jackson suspended following a red card against Flamengo, and also banned from the opening Premier League game against Crystal Palace on August 17, Delap is guaranteed plenty of minutes.
