Fenerbahçe manager Jose Mourinho has described Liverpool star Diogo Jota as an extraordinary person and “someone with a contagious joy.
Recall that Jota died in a car crash in Spain with his brother on Thursday. The 28-year-old Portuguese player’s death has left the football world in a state of shock.
He got married just ten days before his death, and shortly before that, he helped his Liverpool club win the Premier League.
Reacting to the development, the Portuguese tactician stated that Jota’s death was “unexpected and tragic.”

“When people leave this world, normally we all say ‘such a nice guy’. Diogo was really a nice guy,” Mourinho told Sky Sports.
“He had my agent (Jorge Mendes), so of course I knew a lot about him. And people in Liverpool know what I’m saying is true. He is a kid who nothing was easy for him, he had to fight to arrive where he arrived.
“Three kids without a dad, a young woman without her husband, the parents lose both sons…it’s crazy. It’s difficult to understand. Maybe one day we will understand but not now.”
Jota played an important role in the Liverpool team which lifted the Premier League trophy just over two months ago, equaling the English record of 20 top-flight titles.
He featured in 26 of the club’s 38 league games, scoring six goals and providing four assists. In total, he scored 65 goals across five years on Merseyside, also winning one FA Cup and two EFL Cups.
