Super Falcons head coach Justin Madugu has disclosed that most teams in Africa are avoiding playing Nigeria in international friendlies.
Recall that the Super Falcons will be hoping to defend their title at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco in July, but the team is struggling to get competitive friendly games before the tournament.
The Super Falcons remain Africa’s most successful women’s national team, a reputation that Justine Madugu has bolstered by leading them to a record-extending 10th WAFCON title in 2024 and maintaining their spot as Africa’s top-ranked team, recently climbing to 36th in the April 2026 FIFA World Rankings.
In a chat with Brila FM, Madugu believes the NFF have approached more than five countries to play the team in a friendly, but they all declined.

“The fact is that most of the teams are not ready to play us. I am aware they have made a lot of efforts at trying to reach out to so many teams.”
“The federation will accept by the time they approach their coaches, they will say no, they don’t want to play the Super Falcons.”
“I’m aware they have made approaches to more than five countries.”
“That I know.”
“Maybe some other reasons could be behind it, but we’re not happy about it.”

How will they accept when the NFF is not ready to foot any bills…?
You want to invite teams for friendlies and still expect them to be responsible for their own flights, accommodation, and appearance bonuses……?
Bunch of Jokers.
There’s a reason why 95% of friendlies the SE has played in the last half-decade were invites from other teams.
This NFF does not want to be responsible for anything.
So the likes of Benin, Togo, Ghana, CIV, Mali, Senegal, Niger ALL DO NOT want to play the SF……???
Do we all look like kids ….???
“Do we all look like kids” could not have had a better ending.
There is a front page story today in one of our national dailies titled:
“NFF sit-tight syndrome: How skewed process makes ‘life benchers’ of football administrators”
Some state fa chairmen have ruled their states for at least 20 years.
One died in 2023 after being fa chairman of one of the South East states SINCE 1991.
Yes, 32 straight years.
It’s the same people that crazily gave Gusau and NFF board a vote of confidence in March.
These are the simps deciding the fate of those that govern football affairs in Nigeria.
Riff raffs that are uncontrollable.
Let us wait till September first to see if the vote of confidence translates to a second term for people who crumbled out football.
Africa has 54 national teams that are not ready to play us because Tinubu’s NSC billions allotted to NFF can’t organize friendlies for super falcons.
The 15 other WAFCON bound teams are not eager to play us either.
We can’t get other nations outside Africa to mercifully invite us to mini invitationals.
Madugu first does not have balls to put his employers on their toes.
June 1 to 9 are still a bit far.
NFF knows falcons will raise alarm soon. They know that and they are trying to pull such stunts with a willing cry baby in tow.
They will find games.
They are just testing the waters or criminally looking for “extra funds” to settle the falcons debacle while shamelessly dancing for Eagles unity cup adventure.
Gusau should not come for a second term. Imagine the technical department still in place after overseeing back to back world cup failures.
Nigerians perhaps might look like kids because we’re tolerating this nonsense for too long
Ko sin nko ta ni gbo tan lodo awon NFF jaku-jaku yi (there is nothing we will not hear from this useless NFF).
So, a global brand like the Super Falcons are struggling to find (any) suitors for friendlies! Hahaha! What a disgrace.
So you are telling me that no team wants to play Oshoala, Plumptre, Okoronkwo, Abiodun and one of the best goalkeepers in world football, male and female, Nnadozie.
God help us o!
In a parallel universe, multiple Africa countries will be queueing up to add the star studded Super Falcons to list of prestigious teams they went to bed with.
Instead, the NFF are groping shamelessness!
God help us!
