Former Nigerian international Sylvanus Okpala has advised Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface to start scoring goals for the team.
He gave this warning amid Boniface’s lack of goals in the senior national team despite painting the Bundesliga with goals this season with Bayer Leverkusen.
In a chat with Brila FM, Okpala advised the Nigerian international to learn to provide assist for his teammate if he can’t score goals.

“Osimhen comes in and scores. When Osimhen isn’t there, Boniface doesn’t score. He needs to be talked to, given a lot of confidence, and reminded that as a center forward, his primary role is to score. If he can’t score, then he should start providing assists.
“He shouldn’t be too anxious to score in every game. Yes, scoring is crucial, but he needs to stay calm. When you count one, you can get to two.
“Once he starts scoring, the confidence will return. It’s normal. Bayer Leverkusen is different from the national team,” the 63-year-old said in an interview with Brila.

I won’t join you people in blaming an innocent young man, Boniface. Instead, I will blame Eguavoen, who has eyes but could not see that giving Boniface 20 minutes towards the end of every match would bring the best out of our Boniface kę.
