Celtic interim boss Martin O’Neill has warned that the team’s challenging season should be a “wake-up call” for the club.
Recall that Celtic are second in the league after their win over Aberdeen, but still five points adrift of the Jambos, with Rangers one point further back.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s Scottish Cup quarter-final tie against Rangers at Ibrox, O’Neill stated in an interview with the club’s website that the genuine threats of silverware that Celtic is facing this campaign ought to serve as a “wake-up call” for the Parkhead outfit.

“The overall picture is I think that it should be a wake-up call for the football club,” said the 74-year-old O’Neill.
“You could say that in recent years, fans have maybe been spoilt, no real challenges in many aspects.
“Being able to coast home in the last six or seven games of a season, which is great because you’ve done that. But the challenge has not been strong.”
