The 16th edition of the Research Institute Games tagged Ota 2019 kicked off with a very colourful opening ceremony on Monday, December 16 at the Sports centre of the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute, Ota, Ogun State.
The biennial games was declared open by the Honourable Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonaya Onu who commended the various participating institutions for being part of the the games (Ota 2019). He charged them to redouble their efforts in finding solutions to the myriad of problems bedevilling Nigeria through research.
The high point of the occasion was the lighting of the Ota 2019 Games torch and parade by participating teams.

Meanwhile, Raw Material and Research and Development Council, Abuja defeated the host institute 3-1 in a highly entertaining opening match of the football event.
Over 20 research and development Institutions from across the country is taking part in the weeklong sports fiesta.
