Villarreal midfielder Dani Parejo has dedicated Wednesday’s Europa League success to the club President, Fernando Roig.
The Yellow Submarine defeated Manchester United 11-10 via penalties to claim their first real success in Europe.
Parejo said, “This has been a long, hard season. So it was time to make history when we could. I know that even getting to the final was historic but there are no words to win the trophy after so many penalties!

“Every single person who’s here with this club deserves this victory. But above all the president. He’s fought for 23 years to get to this great night and he couldn’t actually be here in the stadium with us.
“This is, unquestionably, dedicated to him. I’ve never been through anything like this and the penalty shoot-out was just incredible. I’d also like to dedicate this to my family – my wife and my kids, because they have to put up with me every day. This is a majestic team and the club is like my second family.”
