Rohr: I Rejected Offers From Mali ,Congo For Super Eagles Stay

Rohr: Super Eagles Ready To Face 'Fantastic' Salah At AFCON

Nigeria head coach Gernot Rohr says he rejected offers from Mali and Congo to sign a new deal with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Rohr penned a two-year contract extension in May that will see the German finish as the longest-serving coach in Super Eagles history by the end of his tenure.

The 66-year-old’s previous deal, which was extended ahead of the 2018 World Cup, was due to run out this month.

Under the terms of the new deal, Rohr will be expected to spend the majority of the year living in Nigeria, take a pay cut, and be paid in local currency.

Rohr previously managed the national teams of Gabon, Burkina Faso, and the Niger Republic before taking charge of the Super Eagles.

“No, but they were a bit slow. President Pinnick and I wanted to meet in January, but I couldn’t,” Rohr told morgenweb.de.

“Then came the coronavirus and lockdown. Actually, we agreed, it was only about details. Finally, the sports minister also interfered.

“I had requests from Congo and Mali, which I refused.”

Rohr was appointed Super Eagles head coach in August 2016.

Hehehehehehe…..our African guadiolas are at the beautiful gate of NFF and on the pages of internet begging for jobs. Even NPFL clubs do not want to touch them even with a long pole….not to even talk of Lesotho or South Sudan. LMAO.

Nonsense, I thought you will be mentioning Senegal, Morocco Algeria South Africa to mention the few who are good and have financial capacity to trample on on Nigeria. Shame that you are mentioning thirdtiers team and countries

Bro. Those teams already have their managerial plans. Senegal and Algeria are already settled in their managers role. After all, top coaches have coached Mali and Congo at some point before including Keshi. It’s just a subtle way for you guys to scold him because you never want him to continue with the SuperEagles job anyway. At least he’s honest and showed the desire to continue with what he has started with this exciting SuperEagles he has assembled.

@ Dele …. No manager in the whole universe can win the worldcup with the same set of players in Nigeria . Nigerians need to stop all this unnecessary HYPE . Compare PLAYER to PLAYER team NIGERIA and the following Teams and be honest with yourself

        Argentina
        Belgium
        Brazil
        France
        England
        Croatia
        Portugal
        Spain
        Italy
        Netherlands
        Germany
        Colombia
        and Many more

We need to stop all this HYPE about our players . Yes they are talented but compare to other countries , They are AVERAGE players

Talents and Names don’t win tournaments , sometimes you need luck ( UEFA Euro 2004 winner GREECE ) .

Senegal won France defending champion 1998 at the 2002 worldcup . France was knocked out at the group stage despite been the defending champion in 1998

Germany defending champing 2014 was knocked out in 2018 at group stage aswell

SOMETIMES YOU NEED LUCK TO WIN CHAMPIONSHIP AND NOT TALENT OR NAMES . CHECK HISTORY OF TOURNAMENT IN EVERY SPORT

All this noise about Coach , Players need to stop . Even with 11 Ronaldo and Messi , you’ve no 100% assurance of winning a tournament .

I repeat no manager in the whole universe can win the worldcup with the same set of players in Nigeria .

Nigeria national team no get Half talent as BELGIUM and other countries .

Las Las .. if Nigeria Win WORLDCUP na still goodthing sha

BUT FOR NOW , NIGERIA NO FIT WIN ANY WORLDCUP . WE SHOULD ALL BE HONEST

How did Denmark in 1992 and Greece in 2004 win the European championship with bang average squads?

That Greece team has players from Atlético, Lazio, Roma, Werder Bremen, Benfica including Leicester at the time. While the rest are from Greece power houses Olympiacos and Panathinaikos. The Denmark team in 92 had The Laudrup brothers playing at Bayern Munich and Barcelona at the time and the great Peter Schmeichel playing for Man U. Do we have those luxury of players??? By the way we are talking about the WorldCup bro. The Euro is just like winning the AFCON.

Cant you see that all the clubs playing in the Qfinals of the UCL have at least 2 Nigerians in their 1st XIs…? Cant you see that 18 out of the 1st XXIII in the SE qualified for UCL next season by featuring in the top 4 of their leagues. Be careful oh. Infact we are one of the favourites going into Qatar 2022.

Did they win the WorldCup?? That’s the bottom line. Of course we can always create a scare by reaching the Quarterfinals or miraculously reach the Semifinals for the first time ever. Africa has participated in every WorldCup since 1970 that’s 13 Mundials including One in 1934 (Egypt) 14 in total we’ve only reached the quarterfinals on a paltry 3 occasions. Top footballing nations like Netherlands, Croatia, Portugal, Belgium, Colombia, Chile, have never won the WorldCup with their collection of superstars. Abeg say something else. What we have is a group of players that can capture the world imagination and hopefully reach the quarterfinals and that’s if we even qualify in the first place.

Or better still show them to Mr Pinnick that you have some managers that can win the WorldCup with this set of players we have who are playing in Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, Juventus, Bayern, or even PSG, Dortmund, Man City and the likes. LMAO!! Nothing wey person no go see for this forum.

Lol! There we go always looking for a way to discredit the man. No problem we are glad he didn’t accept the offer to continue with the good job he’s doing with this exciting SuperEagles he has assembled. Even Keshi couldn’t achieve anything with Mali so it’s not a big deal that Rohr refused them. The good thing is that he loves the SuperEagles just like we do and wants to achieve something with this exciting group of players.

Tell your 100caps African Guadiolas (whom you were clamouring for to replace Rohr) to apply in those 2 countries na and see if they will even be called for interviews in the 1st place….not to talk of getting offers. LMAO

He stayed because the offers he received were not good enough. Nigeria was his best shot at glory and he knew it.

The gentle man was not such a hot cake after all.

      However:

      1) It is good for us that he stayed. I doubt the NFF would have done a great job in hiring a more competent hand;

      2) His stay means stability for the SE;

      3) He won the 2nd runner’s up medal at the last AFCON. If he improves on that we may win the next AFCON.

I wish him the best and hope the NFF do their part to ensure he succeeds.

“Rohr: I Rejected Offers From Mali ,Congo For Super Eagles Stay”

Thanks for your love Mr. Rohr, I appreciate your efforts.

However, you knew that those countries you mentioned has no qualities that Nigeria has.

If you moved to those two countries you havementioned, it is 100% guaranteed that you would failed woefully. That is why you you agreed whatever NFF throws at you.

I can boldly say that you have failed Nigeria upon the players you have.

Ordinary Madagascar beaten up your team inside out at the Afcon and your Eagles were running and jumping around on the pitch like when putting popcorn in the microwave.

I am not saying this to downgrade you but just to show you that you and NFF are not capable of doing good things for this team calling “super Eagles”. NFF only cares about their pockets, that’s just it.

Your reaction shows that you believed that these teams you have managed in Africa were in the same class with the Super Eagles of Africa.

This is why Mr. Segun Odegbami came out to challenged you. He said when you bn interviewed about the Madagascar match, Oga Rohr was laughing. That tells us that you did not know the value of the team you are managing and we can’t continue like that.

We are not Gabon, Burkina Faso, and the Niger Republic, no disrespect to these teams but Ogirika get size now. Abi no be so ni?

If you know that you can’t go beyond this level, I will advise you to quit jęję.

Your fans keep celebrating you every day that you have built a team that no coaches in Nigeria has ever built for the country while Algeria that failed during the world cup qualifiers and went back to makes corrections and came back stronger to crowned Afcon champion.

Did Algerian team overhauls their team before they can achieved that goal? No. They were honest with themselves and brought themselves their ex players to fixed the problems of the team and they were be able to achieved that.

Can NFF do that? It is time to confront those that driving Super Eagles backward.

Enough of backing a coach that have players but failing to make corrections and making an impact when it is matter most.

If you indeed that good as your fans have bn saying, why NFF have decided to send you abroad for a training course? This is for those who attacks people on this forum when saying the truth about the coaches of the Super Eagles.

If we are still expecting Oga and Oga Agu to be performing miracles at this stage without an expert, while we have young and experienced ex players, should have a rethink.

I am tired of this your excuses coach Rohr. Your best is not good enough period. Go out there and make Nigeria proud period. God bless Nigeria!!!

Sorry for my typos. This is really annoying me.

An example of the Super Eagles team is our “Country”. God provided us everything that we needed and to makes life much easier for us but selfishness and bad leaders are the main problems of Nigeria.

We have bad leaders and the citizens themselves are wicked but only fewer people are not. I’m sorry for our nation. God bless Nigeria!!!

If nigeria was like the eagles, you would’ve known how to write and reason like a human being but bcs nigeria is like a zoo, you and others reason like animals in a zoo.

@stan please how will yobo help the team? He lacks coaching experience as he hasn’t coached any team whatsoever. So what does he bring to the table? To tell the players he has 100 caps for Nigeria?
There are situations I’ve seen where the head coach isn’t available for some time and the mantle of leadership falls on his assistant. Imagine if that were to befall us, what tactical prowess does yobo have to get the desired results in a match? None!. We could as well have hired segun arinze to be our assistant coach cos from where I stand, having no coaching experience can get you that position

Based on statistics, the results have always been good so what’s the basis of the bad belle against that man? The point is, he ia being hated by some ingrates and corrupt maggots, nothing can change that. Even if he wins the world cup tomorrow, they will still hate and condemn him.
