Italian Serie A and reigning league champions Napoli have sent congratulatory messages to Victor Osimhen for winning the 2023 CAF Player of the Year award.
On Monday in Marrakech, Morocco, Osimhen became the first Nigerian since Nwankwo Kanu in 1999 to win the award.
The Super Eagles striker beat two-time winner of the award Mohamed Salah and Achraf Hakimi to become the new recipient.

He is now the fifth Nigerian men’s player to be crowned the best player in Africa.
Reacting to Osimhen being announced as the winner, Serie A wrote:”Presenting Victor Osimhen, the 2023 @CAF_Online Men’s Player of the Year! .”
While Napoli wrote:” -.
“ #Osimhen is the men’s player of the year. Congrats, Victor!”
Other winners for Nigeria on the night saw Asisat Oshoala win a record-extending sixth CAF Player of the Year award winner, Chiamaka Nnadozie won Best women’s Goalkeeper and Nigeria got the National Team of the Year for women.

BREAKING NEWS….., Michael Oliseh has made a U-turn from playing for France Senior team…Unfortunately for us, he chose to play for the Desert Warriors of Algeria….Our administrators are bunch of a mess. To think we can miss out again on Michael Oliseh can not be fathomed….but it is what it is…. Our football administrators have bungled the process again…..so unfortunate…..

Thank God for His Blessings upon one of us. Victor Osimhen is the new king of African football in 2023. If only Nigeria has a good coach, we could win the AFCON this coming year. Uzohu should not even be recalled back to the team when we have Obasogie and the young guy playing very well in South Africa right now. God Bless Nigeria and God Bless Victor Osimhen.
