Spain legend Guti believes Real Madrid’s tie against Manchester City in Wednesday’s first leg of the Champions League round of 16 will be difficult.
These two storied clubs have met six times in a Champions League knockout stage since 2015–16 and are incredibly familiar with each other in this competition.
The Spanish giants have the 4-2 edge over Pep Guardiola’s Premier League side, winning the most recent knockout tie 6-3 on aggregate in last year’s playoffs.

In a chat with Efe, Guti stated that Los Blancos will bank on their home fans to help spur the team to victory against Manchester City.
“That’s what we Madrid fans cling to, the fact that the tie is difficult, but that Madrid pride and those magical nights at the Bernabéu can return.
“Let’s see if all of that helps Madrid grow and reach a good level so that, above all, we can go into the second leg with hopes of advancing.”
