Super Eagles goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho, Wednesday underwent scan test following the knee injury he sustained during Nigeria’s 1-1 draw against Brazil in an international friendly Sunday in Singapore, Completesports.com reports.
Uzoho is facing a long layoff as a result of the knee injury.
In a statement on Wednesday, Omonia Nikosia said the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup winner with Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets has been diagnosed with a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament.
“Francis Uzoho has been diagnosed with a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament and external meniscus he got in the international game between Nigeria and Brazil,” Omonia Nicosia said in a statement.
“Speedy recovery and return to action Francis. The OMONIA family is by your side!.”
Uzoho has been capped 16 times by the Super Eagles. He is currently a loanee at Omonia Nicosia from Spanish side Deportivo La Coruna.
The statement by Omonia did not however disclose how long Uzoho will stay out of action due to the injury.

We should stand by our players in their time of need. Uzoho has gotten this injury on national duty. He must not be abandoned! His care should not be left only to his club! Our players should have comprehensive health insurance coverage, and adequate compensation in the event of an injury (similar to workers compensation in the U.S.). Get well soon, Uzoho!
ACL….ACL oh…..ACL..! Every sportsman’s worst nightmare. I wished and prayed that right angled twist of that knee wouldn’t involve his ACL…..but deep down within me, I knew it would only take a miracle.
