Super Eagles midfielder Kelechi Iheanacho has reaffirmed that he enjoys his game best as a proper number 10.
Recall that Iheanacho was used as a striker alongside Victor Osimhen against Benin in last week’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in a game that ended in a 1-1 draw.
However, in a chat with Victor Modo, the former Manchester City star stated that he would be delighted if deployed as a proper no. 10 ahead of the Super Eagles clash against Rwanda in today’s AFCON qualifier.

“Managers might think differently; wherever they put me I play. I’m serving the country, I’m playing. Anywhere I find myself I just go there and do my job.
“For me personally, in the national team I would like to be a number 10, obviously a proper number 10, so it depends on the formation any manager is playing, you have to adapt to it as a football player.
“I’m a proper number 10 in the national team, that’s my best position in the national team. In the club, it’s different, I’m a number 9 but sometimes I play number 10.”

I agree with you senior man. A false 9 as you played in Leicester city or support striker or 10 in U17 long time ago.
I was surprised when coach Eguavoen deployed you as a 7 (right wing) which didn’t bring out the best in you but unfortunately many people didn’t think that way, they even said your career with the national team is over of which I disagree.
It is always best to understand players best position before deploying them to the battle field.
You are not good at both positions,they even deployed u as a winger and it got worst
Our new noba 10 .y are dey putting him in 9 den . So today he wil play noba 10 , but I guess the team wil grow weak in the game . I want to be proved wrong .
