Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro has claimed he can only select quality players from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
Peseiro included only one local player, Olorunleke Ojo in his final squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Portuguese has been widely criticised for neglecting home-based players since he took charge of the Super Eagles.

The gaffer stated that the few players he invited in the past were not ready to stay in the country.
“I have not said that no player in the local league can play for the Super Eagles, but I need to see if you have the qualities and capacities to play,” Peseiro told a press conference in Abidjan.
“Ojo is in the team, but if I see other players with quality, I will invite them. We coaches are not stupid.”
I need to choose the best players; if a local league player is better than the one outside, I will call him.”

Very clueless man who knows nothing about African football. The Eagles will still lose against home league players from other countries. Saying that coaches aren’t stupid is an irony that is completely lost.?

Peseiro is in a country that has no respect for quality in all aspects of its life. Like all of us He has noticed that Nigeria will remain underdeveloped with its nepotism, cultiism and corruption.
