Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro has expressed his disappointment after the Super Eagles missed out of top position in Group A at the 2023 Africa of Cup Nations.
Peseiro’s side finished second in the group behind the Nzalang Nacional of Equatorial Guinea.
Both countries finished with seven points each but Juan Micha’s side had a better goal difference.
“We’re ready for meet any team,”Peseiro said in a post-match interview.

“I am not 100% happy because we deserved to finish top of the group.
“We deserved to beat Equatorial Guinea and then we would have had nine points.
“But it was not an easy match against Guinea-Bissau. The other team tried to get their first victory in the competition.
“We created the chances to win by more than a goal.”
The Super Eagles will meet the second-place team in Group C in the Round of 16 at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium on Saturday.

Eagles seems to have won their last match yesterday. There is no team remaining in the competition they can beat .. is it guinea, Morocco Egypt or Cameron. Cape Verde no go there .. even equitorial guinea wil score 3 goals against Dem if they are to meet Dem again in the competition.. nff shud buy ticket ready before the next game flight fare wil rise again this weekend.

This coach is funny. He is complaining of not topping his group when he has been playing pack the bus football.
He wants to top his group by scoring only 1 goal per match. How is that going to be possible. You play E. Guinea you play 5 defender, you play Ivory Coast, you play 5 defender, you also played G Bissau, you play 5 defenders. What will happen if you play Senegal Morocco, Algeria, or Cameroun? You will play 7 defenders abi?
He has turned super eagles to Jose Mourinho’s teams. And with Jose Mourinho, one thing is a constant and that is sack letter after +/- 3 seasons. The same fate is awaiting Peseiro if he continues to play Jose Mourinho’s pack the bus style.
He played pack the bus but the team has created and lost lots of chances. I am sorry I replied this way. It’s in no way throwing away your views. But the coach will not score the goals for the players. A coach and a team should always play according to their strength. So far the only thing I can blame him for is the selection of the players for the tournament. He should had included more midfielders.
I understand that the coach will not score goals for the players, especially Osimhen. But it is problematic playing only 2 natural midfielders in all the matches and expect that pressure will be taken off Osimhen. He is already a marked man and you need ton take some of the pressure off him by an additional midfielder or using a support striker.
This strategy of 5 defenders just put the team at the risk of playing penalties or conceding the odd goal and not being able to equalize.
Totally agree with you. Eguaveon many loved to hate did better with these same players without osihmen than this journey coach. His players do not run or attack with any mean intensity, they just jogged throughout their games.

Super Eagles will play Guinea Conakry in knockout. Guinea has a lot of ball-jogglers. Though they’re currently 0-1 down to Senegal, they’re controlling possession. So we need tireless and combative midfielders or we’ll rely on counter-attack.

In the history of AFCON. on knock out between Nigeria vs Cameroon Nigeria always knocks Cameroon out these tournament, but Cameroon have beaten Nigeria in three final AFCON. in 1984,1988, 2000; so I think the history will return itself; on attacking shortage by Super Eagles I think coach Pesiero must put Iheancho as right winger instead of Chukwueze and Ahmed Musa or Moffi instead of Simon Moses and Ademola Lookman , cause those tow veteran forwards have clinical mentality on the goal , also they can pass an easy passes for Osimhen to score , moreover they can dislocate the blockade against Osimhen by competitors, I think thses solutions which will lead SE attackers especially Osimhen to score more and more goals; Ahmed Musa is a pace attacker who has excellent penetration trait from the wing or from the deep of the centre, Iheancho has eagle’s eye on the goal from the deep of the centre also he can grant Osihmen with an easy and calm passes to score goals , I recommend Peseiro to put Ahmed Musa and Iheancho on the coming match vs Cameroon , I recommend SE line-up with 3-4-3 as follows: Nwabili- Troost Ekong , Omuero, Bassey- Aina, Sanusi, Onyeka, Iwobi- Ahmed Musa,Iheanacho, Osimhen.
