Alex Iwobi has expressed the Super Eagles desire to win a fourth title at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Jose Peseiro’s side are among the favourites to claim the title in Cote d’Ivoire.
Iwobi stated that Super Eagles will give their best in the competition.
“The fans know the quality we have in the team, from each man that is in the squad and the ones that didn’t make the squad, there is a lot of talents in the squad,” the Fulham star told the Super Eagles media.

“We have confidence we can go far in this competition, but we have to prove it and assure the fans that we can prove ourselves. They can be sure we will make the nation proud.”
Iwobi also commented on the team’s preparation for the AFCON.
“Preparation has been good, we are in Abu Dhabi right now.We have got some friendlies to warm up before the AFCON,”added the former Arsenal player.
“Everyone is almost complete here, the squad is almost complete and we are also training well.”

If it was the super eagles of 95/96, players like their iwobi will not make the squad..
Infact all of them in the current super eagles team aside osimhen will not make the then 95/96 squad..

When was the last time eagles played a match with (flair is a big word) seriousness. Forget Sao tome matches. Those have proven to be one off results because 2026 world cup qualifiers, after the debacle of missing out on Qatar, if the draws were morning, definitely showed the progress of this hyped-but-shallow team.
