Algeria defeated Democratic Republic of Congo 1-0 in their Round of 16 encounter in Rabat on Tuesday night.
The Desert Foxes will face Nigeria in the last-eight at the Marrakesh Stadium on Saturday.
Substitute Adil Boulbina scored the winning goal 118th minute.

The game seemed to be headed to penalties in a goalless stalemate after 90 minutes and the additional 30 minutes of extra time, but Boulbina, who had come on in the 113th minute for Fares Chaibi had the final say in sublime fashion.
The Al Duhail forward cut in to the right to step away from his marker before curling a beauty of a strike past keeper Lionel Mpasi-Nzau who had done well to keep his side in the game.
Algeria progressed to the quarter-finals for the first time since they won the title in 2019.

This was the fixture I wanted as I think it is a sterner test of Chelle’s coaching acumen as Algeria are a more technical side.
Defeating Algeria will be a far better, sweeter revenge for 2019 Afcon semi final loss.
Bye bye Congo DR.
Someone that will come up with another theory again.
Dnt tell me you still taken that man serious in 2026.
Everybody commenting on this thread is already saying this game against Algeria presents a test of Chelle’s capabilities, and you think they haven’t been taking “Someone” seriously…..???
Are you too dull to see that this is a vote of no confidence in Chelle if, after 1 year, y’all still can’t provide guarantees…….???
Or you think it is you who cannot compute the percentage value of 3/5 that they have been taking seriously all this while…..????
This march will finally put to test Dr Drey’s theory that Chelle can’t beat a team ranked above Nigeria.
That means any of Morocco, Senegal, Algeria, and Egypt. Exciting game to watch on Saturday. I’m quietly positive.
@ deo you are very correct.
This is the true test of fire for Eric Chelle.
Let him prove his tactical masterclass again a technical desert foxes.
Congratulations to the Algerians.
Have to give to the Fennecs, they are quite technical with an experienced Manager who knows what he is doing.
That said, I have no doubt, if the Super Eagles remain focus, Nigeria is winning on Saturday. I am certain of it.
I have never been hungrier for humble pies than now. Because I know when I have to swallow humble pies, it simply means Nigerian football is progressing.
This is the time for Chelle to earn his $55,000 per month pay…… against a high quality team coached by a high quality coach.
Defeat Algeria in 90mins and I’ll let go of his jugular.
Lose as I expect and never return to Nigeria.
We don’t deserve a coach who knows how to take off with an aircraft but has no clue of how to land it. A coach who doesn’t know to make substitutions shouldn’t be anywhere near our national team.
Mr Chelle, please silence me for good come Saturday….!!!
But looks like the team on their own are planning to give chelle a very big excuse should they fail to win on sartuday.
I read it somewhere the team is threatening to boycott sartuday game over unpaid bonuses.
Should this be true, chelle must have just found a clear and valid excuse of distraction.
The last time they boycotted training, we all know what happen. Distraction of this sort is not what the team needs against a formidable team like Algeria.
@Wike, NFF is wicked for not paying players wages.
@wike this set of SE are weird they don’t know when to act. Their timing of doing things tells us that they don’t know what they’ve done after failing to make the WC.
Losing Afcon don’t scare them as well. Nigerians should not spare them if they mess up at this Afcon with this evil way of doing things. Not supporting NFF either but for the sake of Nigerians they should not blow this redemption opportunity.
