Union Berlin striker Ilyas Ansah has disclosed that he wants to focus on his club football and not represent Ghana at the 2026 World Cup.
The 21-year-old Union Berlin striker, whose parents hail from Ghana, had been closely monitored by the Ghanaian Football Association under coach Otto Addo.
Ansah has already made six appearances for the German U21 side, scoring once, and his immediate focus is on solidifying his role at Union Berlin.

However, in a chat with Tribuna, Ansah stated that he has chosen to prioritize his development within Germany’s U21 setup.
“I’ve decided to soak up everything I’m currently experiencing at Union and continue playing for the German U-21 team. After the U-21 European Championship, I’ll look into it next year and make a decision.
“As things stand, I won’t be going to the World Cup with Ghana.”
