Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says he has no regret sending Ethan Nwaneri on loan to Marseille during the January transfer window.
Nwaneri, 18, joined Marseille on loan until the end of the season last month, having struggled for regular minutes for Arteta’s title challengers.
With injuries to Mikel Merino and Kai Havertz, Nwaneri would likely have featured on Sunday when Arsenal host Wigan in the fourth round of the FA Cup had he still been at the club, but Arteta dismissed any suggestion the Gunners made a mistake in loaning him out.

“It’s easy to say in hindsight. When the decision was made, no one could have predicted that Mikel would be out for five months and the same with Kai.
“It is unfortunate, but ultimately we have to make the decisions based on the situation here and now, with an understanding of the context we are in, and what is best for the club and for Ethan.
“For him, it was clearly the right decision to come out and experience a different environment, get playing time and get ready to return to us.”
