Abia Warriors head coach Emmanuel Deutsch is impressed with the character of his team in Sunday’s 1-0 win against MFM of Lagos at the Umuahia Township Stadium, Completesports.com reports.
The Warriors returned to winning ways in the Nigeria Professional Football League after warding off the challenge of the Olukoya Boys.
Deutsch expresses his delight with the outcome of the match despite the short time his team had to prepare.
“Very difficult match, we just came back from Gombe yesterday [Saturday] and the boys were able to show good character,” Deutsch told the club’s official website.
“We didn’t play well but we were able to get the result.”
An early goal from Oghenetega Ebetomane in the sixth minute sealed the Warrior’s second victory in five matches.
Abia Warriors will now travel to Port Harcourt to play Rivers United FC in the NPFL matchday-6 tie on Sunday, 6 December.
