Gift Orban has rated his Gent teammate Jordan Torunarigha among the world’s best defenders.
Orban and Torunarigha are in Nigeria’s squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe.
It is the first time the duo have been invited to the Super Eagles.
Torunarigha has churned out impressive displays for Gent this season and is expected to be a key player for the Super Eagles in future.

“Jordan is a good defender, one of the best in the game at the moment,”Orban told Completesports.com.
“He is a good tackler and very good on the ball too. I’m happy to be here in the national team with him.
“You can be sure he will make a big impact in the Super Eagles.”
Orban and Torunarigha will look to make their debut for the Super Eagles against the True Patriots on Sunday.

@Bobby, what’s funny is, he keeps calling him General Roah and I keep wondering, doesn’t he know his name is ROHR. All these years, he still hasn’t noticed his name is spelt ROHR. Torunarigha is far better than other defenders in Africa.
The best partnership is Torunarigha and Akpoguma or Olisa Ndah and Valentine Ozornwafor.
Yes, l can agree with Orban. Torunarigha is that good and his athletic and technique is top notch too.
Having him and another left legged player in Bassey for our left side of the central defence is an added advantage. Massey is also good technically by l think Torunarigha is faster. One would have hoped that Ugoj Ogbu made it for this match by u don’t have to blame him bcos injury comes at any time. Let’s just forget any seniority, anyone who likes good football and believes in the truth should know that that guy would have made a good impression if around. In fact, he is arguably the best technically gifted Nigerian defender currently( u need to watch his clips). He carries, distributes and nods the ball very well and is also very fast and tactically sound.
The super eagles is forming well now except that we just need to look for a very skillful creative midfielder to fortify the midfield and perhaps Osigwe Sabastine to man our goal post otherwise, the team is ok now.
Pesseiro has done so well with his recent approach and he needs to just continue. Every department of the team is now seriously competitive.
He should just bend down and show us why he is so much rated by even the special one ( Mourinho) himself. Let’s see how his team plays beginning with Sunday’s game against Sao Tome.

Torunarigha? Yes, he’s a fantastic player. The NFF should hire a good tactician to assist the Portuguese. Someone who is a specialist in match reading.
