The presidency is now in charge of the appointment of a new head coach for the Super Eagles, Completesports.com has reliably gathered.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is yet to make a pronouncement on the appointment of a new head coach for the three-time African champions.

The controversy surrounding the appointment of the new head coach has forced the president wade in.

“The appointment of the new Super Eagles coach is now beyond the NFF and sports ministry,” a reliable source in the NFF told Completesports.com.

”The presidency is now in control of the entire process and one can just hope they will take the right decision.”

“We don’t need whether they will consult the NFF or sports ministry before coming up with a final choice.”

NFF’s technical director, Augustine Eguavoen is in line to manage the Super Eagles for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda next month.

At this point Gusua should be made to vacate his position because it is obvious he knows nothing about sports but only about gathering money from every angle yet he keeps saying no money. That man is an accountant and not a football president!!! He always settles for unqualified cheap coaches and you can tell that his taste for money and greed are the motivation over excellence.. He has to move on into a different department or leave the NFF completely!!!!

THE WHOLE NIGERIA SHOULD NOW SEE THAT OF OUR LEADERS OCCUPIED TOP POSITION SHOULD NOT BE TRUSTED ANYMORE DUE TO UNFULFILLED PROMISE THEY ALWAYS MADE. NFF PROMISED NIGERIA THAT THEY WILL GET A FOREIGN COACH BEFORE SEPTEMBER AFTER FINIDI’S RESIGNATION IN JUNE.. BUT NOW, NO ANY COACH YET, WHAT A SHAME !!!!!!!!!!.(Likewise also, our politicians promised us palliative after subsidy removal, but nothing at the end)
EVEN COMMON TOGO, MALAWI, MAURITANIA HAVE EMPLOYED A GOOD FOREIGN COACH FOR THEIR NATIONAL TEAM.
EMPLOYING A STANDARD FOREIGN COACH BEFORE AFCON QUALIFIERS IN SEPTEMBER WOULD HAVE BE A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR NEW COACH TO KNOW EACH PLAYERS & HAVE CLOSE RELATIONSHIP WITH PLAYERS BEFORE THE IMPORTANT WORLD CUP QUALIFY MATCHES.
BRINGING EQUAVOEN AT THIS TIME NOW (which everybody have known as SERIAL FAILURE) WILL BE A THING OF DISASTER FOR COUNTRY, PLAYERS & EQUAVOEN HIMSELF. THOUGH I LOVE HIM FOR HIS TOUGHNESS & NO-NONSENSE COACH BUT WHAT PRESENT TACTICS/MODERN KNOWLEDGE OF FOOTBALL DOES HE KNOW. WHAT REFRESHER COURSES HAS HE ACQUIRED TO UPDATE HIMSELF TO MANAGE SUPER EAGLE.
OUR ORGANIZATION, STRUCTURE ARE VERY POOR & BAD.
COMMON EQUATORIAL GUINEA, COMOROS, BOTSWANA, GAMBIA, THEY PUT THINGS IN STRUCTURE AND ORDERLY.
AS A NIGERIA, COMMON AFCON NATION CUP WE CANNOT SINGLEHANDEDLY HOST IT MORE THAN ONE TIMES. NOW TO EMPLOY A TOP CLASS COACH LIKE HERVE RENARD( whom Morocco, Ghana, Ivory coast, Zambia have engaged in the past before) IS A PROBLEM TO A COUNTRY SO-CALLED GIANT OF AFRICA. WE COMPLAINED THAT THERE IS NO MONEY TO FINANCE HIS WAGES. WHAT A BIG SHAME!!!!!!!!!.
LIKEWISE ALSO, WE WENT TO PARIS OLYMPIC WITHOUT ADEQUATE PLANNING ALONG WITH UNNECESSARY DELEGATE TO WASTE MONEY. JUST TO HEAR A BAD NEWS THAT ONE OF OUR CYCLIST WENT AHEAD TO BORROW CYCLIST BICYCLE FROM THEIR FELLOW GERMAN REPRESENTATIVE.
        WHAT A MESS !!!!!!!!!.
Infact, it is high time for President Tinubu to ban Nigeria all the sporting federations in order to avoid subsequent local and international embarrassment.

On his best day can Eguavoen half of Rohr’s tactics and mental prowess?  Have we,  for once, been successfully at this disastrous decision of  bringing in Eguavoen to face practising and established coaches? SE are in for double punishment.

One consolation. The last one , indeed. I understand
Rohr loves Star beer from Nigeria. Cut off the supply asap!

It will be a miracle if Eguavoen matches Rohr or other practising coaches. Rohr will use the opportunity to disgrace the SE again–a revenge against inept NFF.

One thing in naija is we seem to miss the past than being happy with the present. We are all thought former NFF was worse, this one is incompetent, filled with lies. To appoint a coach which dey promised to do b4 sept, and now dey can’t. Again back to local coach to help prosecute a game, hereby shifting d time line of finding a coach to next year. May God bless you NFF and its leadership. Since u guys have decided dat naija football won’t have peace,God will judge you all. CSN your job is to put a spotlight on this issue but u guys don’t. All you do is focus on other nations but meanwhile ur sports is dying. What a funny platform.

Suddenly Amaju Pinnick looks like a saint! Super corrupt but at least decisive. We qualified for many age grade competitions and won medals.

But Gusau!!??? Like incredible!!! How did we get here??? Like waaawuuu! Someone should please educate me. Like how difficult is it to appoint a coach that it has become a national project? Am I missing something!!??

Was it not someone that appointed Wakama? Please o, they should bar accountants from applying for NFF Presidency again. Otherwise the tenure would be spent on how to make and save more money – and with no accountability.

Pinnick said it on Arise Tv that Gusua is hard to release money and this madness has made him employ terrible choice of coaches and no wonder he is trying to force a coach that has not won any of his last 16mtaches (Stanfiet) recommended by this same Pretender Pinnick just because he is cheap. Pinnick doesn’t seem to want Gusua to better his record so he is just misleading and also tarnishing Gusua’s image. Aboki will never get sense, aside Dangote I have never seen a smart Aboki!!!

Now that the presidency has taken over, I hope they’ll pick Chelle. His profile is impressive plus the way he turned Mali into a fearsome side overnight is noteworthy. Imagine what he’ll do with a star-studded Nigerian side.

He’s French with proud African (Malian) roots. What NFF fail to understand is that Chelle won’t stand aside and wait for them forever. Herve got other suitors, upped his prize and chose the highest bidders. If other more financially bouyant and generous countries enter the fray for Chelle’s services, it’ll make things difficult for us.

The NFF we know never appoints the best candidate but rather employ the least one whom they can use for their corrupt deeds. So I don’t believe they’ll give Chelle or Renard the job. All that stories we have been reading are just publicity stunts because they knew that Eguadiola was their main plan and already handing out players invitations. We all know that Afcon qualifications can not be compared to World Cup Qualifiers, and Eguavoen will win these matches then take the job and continue the play as you pay NFF family business. On the long run we know when he meets better coaches in bigger stage that is when everything will backfire but by that time their pockets will be full but who cares???

At this point Nigeria football is on a suicide mission because some people will be carried away after this afcon qualifiers only to be shocked at the main competition where incompetence will be exposed. This has always been the same occurrence, all these NFF and their crew care about their pockets and nothing else that is why they’ll trap us with their member Eguavoen!

AS PRESIDENCY WANT TO TAKE OVER, THEY DON’T NEED TO GIVE US STORY(lamba) AT THE END, BUT TO GIVE US GOOD FOREIGN COACH THAT KNOWS ABOUT AFRICAN FOOTBALL BETTER & SUPER EAGLE PLAYERS (both home & abroad) AND WORK EASILY WITH LOCAL COACHES.

This just confirms the NFF is plain useless.

Peseiro already sounded it out to us last year that he was gonna leave after AFCON unless something changes. Guess what, it has taken the NFF 8 whole months (and still counting) to find a capable successor for the AFCON finalist…..LMAOooo.

This has got to be a joke….!

      Are we really surprise?

When incompetent is in authority, shambolic is the outcome.

I can list more serious countries that have recently changed coaches within the shortest of time. Mexico just got Aguirre. Even Jamaica could afford Steve Mclaren. And both countries let go of their former coaches at the same time we were forcing Finidi to resign! Yet they were swift and decisive about their next appointment whilst we perambulate and act like a headless chicken.

And yet we want miracles. We want qualification. How does that even work?

Sometimes one wonders what it means to be Nigerian…..

Please let us not allow Gusau to give accountants a bad name.
An NFF president that calls himself an accountant, yet under his watch financial controls are almost nonexistent, money comes in, no one knows where it goes, or what was done with it. Does the NFF even have a budget it works with? Accounts payables nko? Total disaster. Coaches unpaid, players bonuses unpaid, other vendors unpaid! Does NFF even have an accounting system? An accountant that can’t balance his books? What he is supremely good at is refusing to spend money. An accountant that can’t see the huge ROI potential in hiring a quality coach! That coach will return your investment in his salary many times over when he qualifies you for the world cup, and wins you the Afcon. Invest in a quality coach kwanu, for where! Gusau and his board of dunces won’t do the needful!
Real accountants would cringe at the thought of working with this charlatan.
      Accountant my foot!

First issue is about getting a good coach. Pleased the Presidency is involved. We have two local coaches, either of whom can be contracted: Amunike or Siasia.

Second, it’s good for someone to try and take control. Pinnick is in FIFA and the AFC. He’s an achiever. He should not only not interfere he should be seen to not interfere. We know of the history between him and the most successful local coach to date: Stephen Keshi.

Third, why castigate accountants? The fact that Gusau is an accountant is not an indictment of his profession but is a judgement on him as a person. Allegations about his management of funds are what they are: allegations unproven. Besides who’s making the allegations? What’s their own track record in money management and record keeping and reports thereon?

What’s most important is to get a coach with a proven track record and technical skills and who can start asap; and operate without prejudice.

The level of incompetence that the NFF and the sports ministry has shown is scary! Since losing the coach at Afcon since February, they still can’t find a replacement? They make it look like rocket science. I just pity whoever they select to execute the matches in September because they will place everything on their head.

      Allegations unproven? Wooooooow.
You are seeing the effect of something, are you’re still waiting for proof of the cause?
The serial killer nicknamed Jack the Ripper who terrorized the city of London in the late 1800s was never caught. Going by your argument, the criminal and his crimes do not exist because the evidence did not link anyone to the crime scene. So we can’t even call them crime scenes then, because there is no proof crimes were committed. Since there is no proof, perhaps the murdered women committed suicide. Or perhaps their deaths were accidents. REALLY?
Back to the issue were discussing, let’s wait for proof to fall from the sky before we know for sure what is happening at the Glass House.
Where is the Afcon $4m, to start with?
Why is it that nonpayment of coaches and players continues to be a problem under his tenure?
What about the women’s world cup fiasco, where NFF shamelessly squabbled with the players over FIFA bonuses? If Waldrum had not boldly spoken up, and FIFA had not waded in, what would have happened?
All these and many other effects, but Mr. Morgan does not or refuses to see probable cause.
Siddon there and continue to wait for proof.

At this rate, I think it’s best for me to just enjoy the game, and not be too emotionally involved.
World cup is not Nigeria’s birth right. Ghana booted us out of the last edition, and the heavens did not fall.
If we fail to qualify once again, SO BE IT!
That should have been my stance originally. It has taken these recent developments for me to come to this realization.
With the way football is run in this country, fans need to adjust their expectations, lest they do themselves unnecessary harm.
When we see the likes of Morocco, Senegal, and other African countries doing well, it’s not by accident.
We want to compete with these countries? Even the so called minnows are poised to leave us behind.
I will not allow these people to toy with my emotions anymore. I wish the coach the best, because it’s the SE after all. If he surprises us and does well, we will all enjoy it.
If he fails, I will just shake the dust off my feet and move on. For all I care, the NFF president and his board can stay in office for life. Since the allegations against them are unproven, they must not be doing anything wrong. All is well in the Glass House.

Incredible country, incredible leaders!!!!!! What a shame!!!! So, it has taken the nff almost a century to get us a good coach? And the presidency is now intervening bcs those in charge of our football are incompetent. Both the sports minister and the nff president are a bunch of clueless stupid thieves. Yes, I say stupid ‘thieves’ bcs some thieves are smart in the sense that they would make sure the right thing is done on the peripheral and then cart away what ever crumbs that would fall from the table. This way, they would get the job done perfectly and then still have something going for them at the end of the day. A win win situation. This is normal in administration even in sane climes but these idiots are so stupid that they can’t hide their greed, stupidity and incompetence. And eventually, when The aforementioned backfires, they’d drag everybody into their smelly evil mud. I really don’t wanna sound tribalistic but with all honesty without prejudice, these northern dudes should just shift and allow better heads to run things in this country. We need competent hands in the management of our affairs in this country. They’ve had have much of power and occupied almost all positions (both political and administrative) but absolutely nothing to show for it. Just Look at how impoverished the north is with all the fg presence and federal allocations they get. They still lag behind bcs of the kind of leaders they have. They still carry this to the federal level. If u no sabi, allow others to try and achieve success for everybody. Power and leadership are not anybody’s birth right. Still me @#oakfield ( csn and odegbami blocked my original username bcs the shivers i send down their spine)

About Segun Odegbami I’m still in shock that he has turned into something else after the exit of Bhuari. All of a sudden everything is fine with this present sports administration and he even justified his lies by saying we’re not a sports powerhouse. This same man who was ranting alongside me of our past greatness all of a sudden has gone mute and now came out at the eve of a disappointing Olympics to defend a failing administration. What this means is that oga has a tie with this recent administration that is why he is on the defensive side now.

You are missing the point here.

I am always rooting for the best indigenous coaches or an African coach.

The spirit I don’t want Nigeria or Africa down will be their for our own or an African coach to do more in the Super Eagles.

When I’m talking about our own, I am talking about the best of the best indigenous coaches not Eguavon that preferred money to anything.

I respect Eguavon a lot but the way his promoted his players during the Afcon in Cameroon says a lot about Mr. No nonsense.

Hmmm. What the NFF can do now is to allow Siasia to do the job.

Yes, I am rooting for Sia1 or Chelle.

But Siasia is more favorable than Chelle in this regard. NFF should give either of the two a two years contract.

Why Eguavon again? It seems like the current NFF is lost.

The role Amaju pinnick is playing is huge and he will soon bring down our sports if we allow him and Gusau to continue this way kę.

Gusau is incompetent. It so sad that those that ruling Nigeria are so much outdated because they have no clues of what they are doing.

I don’t believe in talking bla bla bla without taking actions.

If we all go to the NFF social media pages to say no to Eguavon but instead, we preferred Siasia or Chelle to Eguavon. I am pretty sure that NFF will have a rethink.

We should go local this time. We have Siasia and Chelle.

Herve Renard is out of this because of the money Renard is asking for.

If the NFF fail to hire one of these two coaches,
          1. Siasia
          2. Chelle

Then we should old the Nigeria Football Federation accountable for it.

NFF is taking away the love I have for the Super Eagles and all the national teams of ours.

We can not keep quiet on this issue.

In one word, no to Eguavon. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

No be only Salisu na Bernard Okorowanta. Siasia should not take this appointment at this point in time because he should learn from the past when he picked appointments at a point when the term was almost eliminated and the NFF used it against him. It will be unwise of him to just rush into SE job after years of suspension. Chelle is the best man for the job at the moment and not all these guys. Siasia should take his time and get back to business gradually by handling u20 team or home based Eagles, in future he will get the SE job from scratch and not these half chances qualification.

Honestly speaking, I don’t think he is ready to take over the affair of current Eagles but one thing I know is if we are not in a rush to see results and the NFF can give him Maximum support or perhaps he can have the support of the Presidency he will do great.
One good thing about Sia is he will call up unknown names to Eagles and they will perform. And the best about him is , he is a non tribalist .

      Time cautiousness;

As believers of the rule of law, the FGN will uphold its extant law regarding the present situation irrespective who is making the usual noise up-and-down. After all, we all know where such dotted noise is coming from but it’s sure to end in the manner. And though we share in the sentiment/confusion of some SE fans as it’s apparent from some comments above, but it doesn’t really work that way. one, the matches inview are not far off and besides, the NFF extant law provided for a situation like this.

I think Eguaveon should be begged to commence preparation timely instead of further delay.

This was the whole ploy “Beg egungu to resume preparation” for a position that has been vacant for ages and the same egungu has even sent invitations to players long ago because he is behind the delays or refusal not to get a real coach but their plan was to play us until now so he will be the coach at the end of the day. NFF commentator by their fruit we shall recognise them.
