Former world number one Roger Federer says Rafael Nadal remains the toughest opponent he has ever played with in tennis.
With a career lasting nearly 25 years and featuring over 1,500 matches, Federer has faced off against a wide variety of opponents since his 1998 debut on the ATP Tour.
Hailed as one of the greatest tennis players of all time, the Swiss accumulated 20 Grand Slams and 103 ATP titles.

The Swiss and the Spaniard faced one another in nine major finals across 40 ATP meetings and struck up one of the greatest rivalries in tennis history.
In a chat with Tennis World, Federer said of Nadal’s left-handedness, “His lefty silly spin to my backhand [it] has been a challenge for me, to say the least.”
“I struggled against Rafa the most, yeah. Just because of his topspin and [him being a] lefty, you know.”
