Insurance Football Club of Benin have gained promotion back to the Nigerian Professional Football League following their 1-0 win over Shooting Stars FC of Ibadan in Wednesday’s game at the ongoing Nigerian National League Super Eight tournament in Aba reports Completesports.com.
Charles Omokaro curled in a brilliant strike just after 10 minutes from 25 yards out to send Monday Odige’s side back to the topflight division after 11 years in the lower division.
The wins sees Insurance secure top spot with three wins from three games with three clean sheets.
Remo Stars also returned to the NPFL after they defeated Delta Force 2-1 in the other group game.
Idris Aloma shot Remo Stars into the lead in the 20th minute but Delta Force restored parity with five minutes left to play in the first half from a penalty spot by Osita Egbo after Obinna Awara was fouled inside the box.
The Sky Blues sealed victory through star striker Victor Mbaoma who tucked home Mustapha Gbolahan’s pass.
The win sees Remo Stars finish second in the Southern group behind leaders, Insurance with six points from three group games.
In the Northern group, Kada City and Gombe United secured promotion after finishing first and second.
Insurance FC will now face Kada City in Thursday’s final to determine who lifts the 2018 NNL Super Eight Playoffs.
