Ahmed Musa has expressed deep sorrow following the demise of former Super Eagles goalkeeper Peter Rufai.
Rufai was confirmed dead on Thursday following a long illness.
Musa, a former Super Eagles captain took to the social media to mourn the legendary Nigerian goalkeeper.
“Cant believe im typing this – a post to bid farewell to a true giant of Nigerian football, Peter Rufai. Your heroic reflexes and unwavering presence between the posts brought us moments of pride on the world stage. ⚽,” Musa wrote on X.
“May your spirit continue to inspire future generations of Super Eagles. Though you’ve left us, your legacy soars higher than any trophy. Fly high, DODOMAYANA — the nation mourns a hero.

Nicknamed “Dodo Mayana’, Rufai is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers Nigeria has ever produced.
The 61-year-old played a crucial role for the Super Eagles side that won the Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia in 1994.
He also represented Nigeria at two FIFA World Cups (1994 in United States of America, and 1998 in France).
Rufai made 65 appearances for the three-time African champions during his active days.
He also played for top clubs like Stationery Stores in Lagos, Go Ahead Eagles in the Netherlands, and Deportivo La Coruña in Spain.
