Former Rangers International captain Phinan Ozonweke has been appointed as the new Head Coach of Edel FC, Awka, a Nigeria National League (NNL) side, Completesports.com reports.
Ozonweke takes over from Fasojaye Tajudeen, who has parted ways with the club by mutual consent.
Edel FC currently compete in Conference B of Nigeria’s second-tier domestic league.
Edel FC Confirm Ozonweke’s Arrival
Ahead Of NNL Second Stanza
The club’s Team Manager, Micky Chukwuebuka, confirmed Ozonweke’s arrival while speaking about Edel FC’s preparations for the resumption of the 2025/2026 NNL season next weekend.

“We are getting ready for the resumption of the second round of the 2025/2026 NNL season,” Chukwuebuka said.
“For your information, Coach Phinan Ozonweke is now with us, having arrived towards the end of the first stanza.”
Edel Assess Squad Reinforcements For Improved NNL Campaign
Chukwuebuka revealed that the club is still evaluating players as part of efforts to strengthen the squad ahead of the second stanza of the season.
“At the moment, we are still taking a proper look at the players we intend to register to beef up the team ahead of the second stanza of the season,” he added.
“That process should be concluded, hopefully, tomorrow or the next day. The truth is that we are looking forward to a better and improved performance in the second round of the season.”
