A brace from Joseph Arumala saw Ikorodu City defeat Niger Tornadoes 2-0 in Sunday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The win means Ikorodu City, now on 41 points, have temporarily gone top in the league table.
Arumala opened the scoring in the 33rd minute as he converted from the penalty spot.
With two minutes left to play Arumala hit his second goal to put his side 2-0 ahead. He Spined from a defender and hit a low strike to the keeper’s right hand corner.
Nasarawa United missed the chance to climb to the top no thanks to their 1-1 draw at home to Bayelsa United while Rangers also failed to move to the summit after playing goalless at Abia Warriors.
In other matches, Plateau United pipped Kwara United 1-0, Kun Khalifat beat Shooting Stars 2-0, Warri Wolves and El Kanemi Warriors played 0-0 and the match between Wikki Tourist and Katsina, which was tied at 3-3, was abandoned.
