Ashleigh Plumptre has talked up Super Falcons’ display in the defeat to Spain , reports Completesports.com.
The Super Falcons lost their second game at the 2024 Olympic Games, going down 1-0 to the world champions in Nantes on Sunday night.
Waldrum’s side put up a resolute display in the keenly contested encounter.
Alexia Putellas scored the winning goal from a superb free-kick in the closing stages of the game.

The Super Falcons were let down by their poor marksmanship with Rasheedat Ajibade and Chiwendu Ihezuo wasting good chances in the game.
Plumptre, who missed out of the Olympics due to injury praised her teammates for their performance.

I think we really missed Ashleigh and Ayinde in this tournament. Ayinde was a bulwark in her DM roles and Ashleigh was more of an asset going forward. Both players will always be first picks ahead of the replacement players.
Be that as it may, only Spain has qualified in this group. It’s still pretty open. Do the maths. Any of Nigeria, Japan, and Japan can still qualify as 2nd and 3rd.
For example, if we beat Japan 2-0 on Wednesday and Spain does same to Brazil, we’ll qualify in 2nd place!
I dont think we miss anyone in DM or defence. For i feel our attack has been so poor and if we crashout it will be sole due to our wasteful strikera. The coach did a good job in terms of setting up the team tactically but his substitutions were questionable. Im sure if he had left Oshoala or no2 on the pitch we will have won or drawn the match..
