Victor Osimhen scored one goal and also provided an assist as Napoli thrashed Sassuolo in their Serie A clash at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
Kalidou Koulibaly broke the deadlock soon after, his header meeting a Lorenzo Insigne corner kick to put Napoli in front on seven minutes.
Osimhen added the second goal from a header on 15 minutes.
Dries Mertens robbed Maxime Lopez four minutes later to send Osimhen down the right, where he rolled across for Hirving Lozano to tap in 3-0.
Mertens completed his brace after the restart, exchanging passes with Fabian Ruiz down the left to fire in from six yards.
Sassuolo finally got a shot on target, Davide Frattesi forcing a David Ospina save after Mert Muldur’s pull-back from the by-line.
Osimhen had the ball in the net again on 71 minutes, but had wandered into an offside position.
Napoli did make it 6-0 eventually, a corner not cleared effectively, Matteo Politano pulling back for a flick-on and Amir Rrahmani turning in from 12 yards.
Maxime Lopez received scant consolation for Sassuolo, scoring from close range after the ball pinballed around the box.

The premier league may be good for Osimhen. Looking at Napoli, they had so many chances to go top of the table, but they kept on failing and flopping. You cant be champions if you cant be the top teams. They may get champions league football, but they still wont be competitive. Napoli don’t really get big signing players, but they do sell for a hgh price. Its not a team people will go to. So naturally Osimhen will not thrive. Especially looking at how they got booed off after crashing out in the europa league to barcelona, they always crash out in uefa competitions. So a lot of teams are after him, especially newcastle, man utd and arsenal. The premier league suits his style of play which is fast. Osimhen is fast, can lead the break, always borderline offsides and has athletic abilities during set pieces. But he needs to work on his 1v1 and his finishing. He is always creating turnovers, shooting too early and losing the ball when he sees the opposition coming. He now has 13 league goals, so right now to me he is not overrated. Napoli paid a lot of money for him and he scored under 11 goals, which was his high is lille. He says he want to be a legend at napoli like maradona and cavani, but he wont win any trophies. He should join arsenal for they might get champions league football and they turned things around by getting new players. Man utd will not play champions league football and will be playing in a terrible environment with the fans and english media always babying and protecting the english players.
Today Napoli did something they had not done in a while, they were more direct, still not enough, but not so bad from them, and they supported osimhen more when he had the ball in the danger half, which led to lozanos goal, before today, when osimhen was in the danger half, he was always alone, he can’t really dribble so he just plays crappy balls to the centre of the box, they can do more though. Epl would be like home to a player like osimhen, his profile fits.
