Viktor Gyokeres will be fined by Sporting Lisbon and told to apologise to his team-mates after missing his deadline to report to pre-season training,
This is according to Sporting Lisbon president Frederico Varandas (via nytimes.com)
Arsenal are working to sign Gyokeres and have a five-year deal prepared, subject to an agreement being reached over a fee, with the two clubs in advanced talks.
The Sweden international’s absence from training does not come as a surprise, with The Athletic reporting on Friday that the striker did not intend to turn up as he pursues a move to Arsenal.
Gyokeres believes Sporting president Varandas has gone back on a pact to let him go for €60m plus €10m, which Arsenal have already surpassed but still no agreement is in place on a fee.
