Aston Villa manager Unai Emery says he’s confident the team will overturn the 2-goal deficit against PSG in Tuesday’s Champions League second-leg quarter-finals at Villa Park.
Recall that the first leg ended in favour of PSG after the Paris club won by 3-1 last week.
Speaking with the club’s website, Emery said that he has confidence in his players and insisted that a comeback is more than possible.
“We played how we wanted to at Paris St-Germain but the result obviously wasn’t what we hoped for. If we are winning, we can be close.

“Our objective is to play with one strong plan in our tactical way tomorrow and try to be consistent and try to understand how the match is going in 90 minutes.
“When we were winning at Club Brugge also, we were ready to play extra time. Our plan is the same that if we are getting extra time, that’s good and if we are getting a penalty shootout, that’s fantastic as well.”
“A shock comeback is not impossible, especially when playing at home, and Emery admitted that he wants to make history this week.
“I have experiences of comebacks. Both positive and negative.”
“But now, it’s something different. We want to write the history of Aston Villa – last year in the Conference League, this year in the Champions League and hopefully for years to come in Europe.”

What a difference a good coach makes.
Imagine ordinary Aston Villa playing in the quarter finals of the Champions League. In my opinion, they’ve already over achieved. And they got here by investing in a coach who is now helping them to punch way above their weight.
We must learn a lesson.
Of course, they have already recouped their investment in Emery. They are 7th on the league table and they’re also making beacoup de coins in the Champions League to boot.
The wily Spaniard has done very well indeed. Can he contrive to get Villa past PSG into the UCL semis?
Pompei Aston Villa is not a small club O. They’ve won the Champions League before when it was still European Cup. And they’ve won the league before it was rebranded Premier League .
Historically, they used to be a powerhouse just like Nottingham Forest. They both faded away towards the end of the 90s until recently when they started pushing above their weight since the turn of the century.
Obvious in comparison to the likes of the big 6 they can be categorized as small. However, historically they’re not a small club.
Ayphilly, you’re right.
I dey look dem less less because it’s been long since they were successful.
As the saying goes, I get am before no be property. I’m so impressed by what Emery is doing with them now. Imagine Emery as Nigeria coach? Make I dey dream jare!
Me I like better thing. I no go lie.
it is coaches like this that we should have courted for the Super Eagles. A young, brilliant, ambitious, tactically solid coach. Make him an offer he can’t refuse, AND HE GO SHOW.
Yes, it will cost a lot of money, but we will recoup that cost quite easily. Just qualifying for one world cup alone gives us a huge return our investment!
Not to even mention the satisfaction resulting from good results, which will surely come if we get a coach of this calibre.
Assuming we pay the coach $1 million a year (which is on the high side), and we qualify for the world cup and receive the $40 million in participation fees, no be good business be dat? Then, if we reach the world cup proper and do well, we also get a significant financial reward. Plus we become more attractive to corporate sponsors. Our brand adds value. This is what our NFF should have been gunning for. Alas, they would rather save peanuts by cutting corners in hiring, then we end up missing out on huge financial opportunities! Our mumu no too much? SMH.

No, You are wrong buy not Wright.
Politicians are politikin and oppressors are aggressors, but potential will always remain the same until you understand that you knows nothing about football matters. Just ask Amala Ikpunobrious and his younger brother Eba Afeshelu and they will confirm it.
