Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has disclosed that he wants Mohamed Salah to remain at Anfield despite his controversial outburst with manager Arne Slot.
Having been benched for three straight games during Liverpool’s recent struggles, he hit out after not playing a minute of their 3-3 draw with Leeds.
However, the Egyptian returned to the pitch for the Reds, entering the fray as a first-half substitute for Joe Gomez in their 2-0 win over Brighton.
Reacting after the game, the Dutch international stated that he would love to have Salah in the team.

“Of course, I told him I want him to stay,” said Van Dijk afterwards.
At the same time, he highlights Salah’s importance to the team.
“I would love to have him around me because he is one of the leaders, but the fact is that he is going to AFCON.
“I wish him all the best. We will be in contact for the next few days and weeks, because we are always, and then we have to see.”
