South Sudan ended their debut outing at the women’s AfroBasket on a positive note after recording a shock 66-65 win against 11-time champions Senegal in the third-place game on Sunday.
Senegal missed the chance to add to their 11 titles after losing to reigning champions D’Tigress 75 – 68 in Saturday’s semi-finals.
For South Sudan they suffered defeat to 2007 champions Mali in the second last four encounter also on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Sunday’s final will see D’Tigress hope to become the first national women’s basketball team to win five consecutive AfroBasket titles.
For Mali, they will be targeting a first continental glory since clinching their only title in 2007.
