I had that niggling feelingthis was going to happen. Likely enough time to allow South Africa to adequately prepare for the tournament by July after the men’s World Cup.
Morocco, clearly, is still smarting from and sulking over the loss of the WAFCON and AFCON to Nigeria and Senegal on home soil. They feel their investment in world-class sporting facilities to host Africa has been a waste and not appreciated, going by the general negative sentiments towards them by sub-Saharan Africa.
FIFA should also reconsider them as co-hosts for the 2030 edition.
Plus the fact that their national team coach just resigned his appointment few months to world cup.
These are not the best of times for them going by the level investment in football.
@Wike, CAF is weak. They are worthless.
Only when you are compromised can you be held to ransom in this manner.
CAF officials have been feeding fat on gratification from Rabat, so taking firm and hard decisions is becoming difficult for them
Unfortunately, they cannot take their usual easiest way out – cancelling the tournament outright – since there is a World Cup to qualify for next year.
OK, you have postponed the tournament, to be held where exactly now?
What happens to the marketing of the tournament, sponsorships, bookings, traveling arrangements, and all that is to generate income within that ecosystem…….when we do not even know where it gonna be held….
CAF is indeed a disgrace….!
Just like the typical African leader, Motsepe started well, got carried away, and started frolicking with wolves in sheep’s clothing. Now he’s got bent over and is beginning to misbehave.
