Former Super Eagles head coach Monday Sinclair has died aged 88.
Sinclair’s death was confirmed by former Super Eagles goalkeeper Peterside Idah in a post on his Facebook page.
It was gathered that Sinclair passed away today (Wednesday) around 3:15pm.
“Our daddy is gone .what a man .he signed me to play for Sharks. Gave me my first match against niger tornados of minna,” Idah wrote.
“The first day he saw me come to train with Sharks. He said my friend are you a boxer .he said I was built like tyson. From that day I found me a football father, I became very close to him and his family, with puppa k as a very close brother.”

Sinclair Appointed Super Eagles On Interim Capacity In 1997
Sinclair had a brief stint as Super Eagles coach in 1997, taking charge on an interim capacity following the sacking of French man Philippe Troussier.
He led the Super Eagles to international friendly games against Zambia (a double header) and Tunisia.
In the two friendly game with Zambia in December 1997, the Super Eagles lost the first tie 2-0 before drawing the second encounter.
Then against Tunisia in the final of the four-nation LG Cup played in August 1997, Sinclair’s side lost 2-0.
Sinclair: Coaching Career
Sinclair began his coaching career with Sharks of Port Harcourt before moving on to take charge at Niger Tornadoes, Enugu Rangers, Heartland, Bayelsa United and also Equatorial Guinea.
He made his debut for the national team, on February 27, 1963, during a Kwame Nkrumah Cup game in Accra, where Nigeria lost 4–0 to Senegal.
He is credited to have discovered notable Nigerian football stars like Richard Owubokiri, Benjy Nziakor, late Peter Rufai, Finidi George, Taribo West, Davidson Owumi, Idah, Binebi Numa, Imama Amapakabo among others.
