Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Peter Rufai says the inability of the U-23 Eagles to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games is a big setback for Nigeria football.
Recall that Nigeria’s U-23 Eagles were defeated 2-0 by Guinea in the final qualifier for this year’s U-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Guinea booked their spot on Tuesday after they had recorded a 0-0 draw in the first leg in Abuja.
The team has also failed to qualify for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo after failing to go past the group stage of the U-23 AFCON.
Reacting to the team’s failure, the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations winner told Completesports.com that another set of talent will be wasted again.
“It is so sad that the Nigeria’s U-2 Eagles failed to overcome Guinea in the second leg of the final qualifier for this year’s U-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
“I expected a lot from the players but it’s unfortunate the team won’t be part of the 2024 Olympic Games slated for Paris. This is a big setback for Nigerian football.
“It was obvious the second leg will be tough for them having failed to defeat Guinea here in Nigeria.”

It’s even better as they didn’t qualify.. because when the NFF continue to do the same thing and expecting different results… Who does on planet … The NFF we continue to be failing… If na curve make them accept am…. We Nigerians fans have rant and talk on radios and TV, calling for NFF to remove that salisu Yusuf from any of our national team but they fails to do so… The same man day can’t qualify Nigeria for Chan tournament.. thesame man that took Kano pillas to relegation..so what do u expect…. Failure failure failure…

According to some report on owngoalnigeria…..It claims Salisu hasn’t been paid for 18 months and Kennedy Biboye had no job for 2 years before his appointment and still hasn’t been paid since the appointment……The NFF is the major problem of Nigerian football one day football loving fans will have to stage a protest at that glass house and maybe Efcc needs to scrutinize them….If you don’t pay your coaches, of course some of them will start taking bribe. The real result is NFF 2 Olympic Eagles 0. On a good day, with NFF doing their jobs right, Nigeria would have qualified.
As for the coach, the less said the better.

Salisu is not even ashamed of his corrupt self. He even bragged that he’ll soon be back in the super eagles crew. In a country where we have Emmanuel Amunike, Mike Emenalo and others.
The regional differences matters. No Housa coach can win trophies. Any if them who must have won a trophy must be a figure head while southern coach does the job. Go investigate or doa research on this. If I m right, go to court and challenge my claim.
