Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro has stuck to his prefered 4-4-2 formation for his side’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Likuena of Lesotho.
Peseiro has also kept faith with Omonia Nicosia goalkeeper Francis Uzoho despite the criticisms that has trailed the latter’s performance in recent times.
Bright Osayi-Samuel will feature at right-back , while Jamilu Collins will occupy the left-back position.
Peseiro picked West Bromwich Albion’s Semi Ajayi and Calvin Bassey as the two centre-backs for the game.

Brentford’s Frank Onyeka and Fulham star Alex Iwobi will operate from the midfield.
Kelechi Iheanacho, who will captain the team and Ademola Lookman are the two wingers.

Peseiro said he thought Lookman would be better used as a support striker, thru the middle. But this formation suggests Lookman will play from the wings.
Boni can occasionally drift to the left wing, as he often does at his club, and Lookman can then operate thru the middle.
Hopefully, Tella will be cap tied today. Looking forward to a good game.
I noticed, this Coach prefers lookman to Simon Moses from previous games and from today’s line up..
Also iheancho seems to be well loved by pesiro, same with Uzoho.. the defense pair of ajayi and bassey is also his favorite and that must be why players like ekong, akpoguma are not considered lately..

We know their agenda Ikeben when they try to float Lookman as a Support Striker. This is the same Lookman that has flopped severally. It is only our wonderful Uzoho that they will crucify.

Mr Deo the reason why Uzoho received more backlash than Lookman because when it comes to club performance lookman is top notch while this can not be said of Uzoho.Besides lookman is being used as supporting striker in his club and the guy scored 13 goals in his first season in Serie A. Peseiro just said last week that he has been using lookman wrongly as winger.
But nevertheless I see lookman as not playing to his best or let me say he is not committed

Peseiro continues to be stubborn and persist with calamity Frank, Yes, we know that you don’t suddenly drop one of your favourites, even if he is as bad as Frank, what tends to happen is that he is eased out gradually, the problem here is that we cannot afford to be too gradual with easing calamity Frank out because the WC is too close, even if you are going to use the qualifiers for the easing out, there is zero movement in the goal keeping department to suggest that is the case – If Paseiro thinks he’s going to take old calamity to the WC and it will somehow work out for him, then there is no helping him – as the elders have said, a dog that is destined to get lost will never heed it’s owners call –
Furthermore, there’s no way Lookman should be starting ahead of Moses Simon and he better make sure to give young Nathan a cap today.

When I remember that Eberechi Eze ,snatched by England, and Tobias Lawal, snatched by Austria,once trained with the Super Eagles but we’re allowed to slip from our hands due to our complacency and administrative lapses ,I now think this may be our last chance to cap the dazzling winger,Tella. There may not be another opportunity. Next time he may not be called up,when Samuel Chukwueze returns from injury and before we know it, England will come calling. Paseiro is a very lazy stubborn coach, he said in he’s interview that Uzoho is the best keeper we have in Super Eagles of Nigeria,that shows that he has not been doing he’s job as a coach to scout for players that will fit into our national team. I don’t know y he so much have confidence in Uzoho, despite back to back stupid blunders by the goal keeper. If Uzoho fuck up today, NFF should please sack Paseiro with immediate effect!

The local coach would have won this match. Corruption is playing out in our soccer. Some fool stupid anti-Nigeria development supports their tribal men because of myopic reasoning. We don’t need a foreign coach. We don’t need players with lazy spirit. We need Oliseh as a coach. With what i see in Uzoho against Lesotho (Ranked 156) match today shows we don’t truly know what we are doing in the goal keeping department ,As for Coach Peisairo if NFF fails to sack him then we should kiss the World Cup qualifiers good bye because South Africa will qualify ahead of us meanwhile the coming Nations Cup in Abidjan will be a another debacle if this current coaching crew is to leads us in January.
