The city of London will literally be at a standstill as two of the best tennis stars, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, clash in a blockbuster Wimbledon final on Sunday.
Recall that Sinner dispatched Novak Djokovic 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 in the semi-final on Friday, while Alcaraz edged Taylor Fritz 6-4, 5-7, 6-3, 7-6 (8/6) as well to reach the final.
Sinner and Alcaraz are the undisputed new kings of men’s tennis, claiming the past six majors between them.
Interestingly, both players will be facing each other in the space of a month after Alcaraz came from the dead to defeat Sinner 4-6, 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 7-6 (7-3), and 7-6 (10-2) in one of the greatest-ever Grand Slam finals to retain the French Open title.
Sunday’s Centre Court showdown will be the second time that the pair have met on the lawns of Wimbledon, with Sinner prevailing in their last-16 clash in 2022 to go up 2-1 in their head-to-head.

Sinner, 23, will be desperate to avenge his painful French Open defeat against Alcaraz after squandering a two-set lead and three championship points in an epic Roland Garros final in June.
Meanwhile, Alcaraz has stated that Sinner’s Roland Garros heartbreak ‘won’t be a significant factor’ in the Wimbledon final.
“Honestly, I don’t think it’ll be a significant factor,” explained the No. 2 in the PIF ATP Rankings. “Jannik is a great champion, a player who learns a lot from the toughest situations.
“I’m sure he’ll be stronger, that he will have worked hard on everything that happened there, physically and mentally… He’ll give 100%, and the good thing is that we’re ready for that too.”
Also, Sinner, who praised Alcaraz’s qualities, however, expressed confidence to get one victory over the Spanish star.
“It is a huge honour for me to share the court once again with Carlos,” Sinner said. “We try to push ourselves to the limit; he is for sure one of the players I look up to.
“I love watching him and what kind of talent he is. Hopefully it’s going to be a good match like the last one.”
