Nigeria’s D’Tigress, on Thursday, lost to South Korea 77-60 in their second game of the qualifying tournament for the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup.
The last time D’Tigress lost a game was defeat was against the United States in the quarter-final of the women’s basketball event at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
D’Tigress went into the against South Korea on the back of dominant win against Colombia in their opening fixture on Wednesday.
D’Tigress found themselves trailing in the first quarter with the Koreans ahead by 20-16, but D’Tigress improved their performance in the second quarter but South Korea maintained the upper hand and went into the halftime with a 36-32 lead.

The Asians further increased their lead in the third quarter, 58-51, before widening the gap in the final quarter to secure a 17-point victory.
African champions D’Tigress are only one of five teams who have already sealed their place at the World Cup. Germany qualified as the host while Belgium, the US and Australia sealed their places by winning their respective continental titles.
Meanwhile, D’Tigress will be back in action on Saturday when they will take on Saturday.
