South Africa opened their campaign at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with a 2-1 victory over regional rivals Angola in a thrilling Group B encounter at the Grand Stade de Marrakech on Monday.
Bafana Bafana dominated play early on, and took the lead in the 17th minute through Oswin Appollis.
The winger reacted quickest to a loose clearance inside the penalty area, feinted twice to wrong-foot the defence, and then guided a low, angled finish beyond Hugo Marques.
Angola came back strongly afterwards with Show equalising in the 34th minute.

South Africa regained control of the game in the second half.
MMbekezeli Mbokazi rattled the crossbar, while Lyle Foster had a goal chalked off for offside.
Foster netted the winning goal for South Africa 11 minutes from time.
