British boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has disclosed that former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is yet to make a decision on a possible return to the boxing ring.
Recall that Joshua, 36, was involved in a fatal road crash along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Dec. 29, 2025, that killed two of his close associates and team members, Lateef Ayodele and Cina Ghami, after the vehicle they were traveling in struck a stationary truck on a major road .
Although his boxing future has been up in the air and hardly discussed up until this point, Hearn, who has been by Joshua’s side since he turned professional in 2013, stated in a chat with Daily Mail that Joshua is only training for his mind despite returning to the gym.

‘AJ will always train.
‘Do not forget that boxing changed his life forever and he will never leave the gym.
‘What you are seeing at the moment is not him training for his return. He is training for his own mind. And he is training for himself to recover and repair. I just cannot believe his strength and resilience.”
