FIFA president Gianni Infantino has confirmed that all matches that will be shown at the 2026 World Cup have been sold out.
Speaking to CNBC from Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, Infantino stated, “The demand is there. Every match is sold out.” He revealed that FIFA had received an astonishing 508 million ticket requests in just four weeks for approximately seven million available tickets. Requests during the main sales phase in January originated from over 200 countries.
“We’ve never seen anything like that — incredible,” Infantino remarked, adding that football’s global governing body has held back “some tickets” for a last-minute sales phase, set to commence in April and conclude with the World Cup final on 19th July.

Regarding the high prices of World Cup 2026 tickets, described by fan associations as prohibitively expensive, not to mention reaching record highs on resale websites.
Infantino explained: “I think this is because the tournament takes place in the US, Canada, and Mexico. Everyone wants to be involved in such a special event. Ticket prices are fixed, but especially in the US, there is a flexible pricing system, meaning prices can go up or down.”
The FIFA president also estimated that the inaugural World Cup with 48 teams would generate at least $11 billion in revenue for FIFA (approximately 285.669 trillion VND), while emphasizing that every dollar would be reinvested in the development of football in FIFA’s 211 member countries.
