Liverpool head coach Arne Slot acknowledged that the injury to Victor Osimhen ultimately benefited his side, Completesports.com reports.
The Reds thrashed Galatasaray 4-0 in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 encounter at the Anfield on Wednesday night.
Liverpool progressed into quarter-finals 4-1 on aggregate.
Osimhen was replaced at half-time after sustaining an injury.

Slot admitted that the forward’s early injury made it easier for the Reds to beat Galatasaray.
Slot On Osimhen
”Osimhen is an incredible player for them.Yeah, [the injury] worked for us, but when you look at the first 10 minutes and how the team played with him, I thought he would play the full 90 because the rest of the team plays so well off him,” Slot said after the game.
“He’s shown many times in his career that he can score a goal all of a sudden. It’s not nice to see any player get injured, but he’s been very influential on Galatasaray’s performance.
“It was a difficult task for us when we played them in their stadium, largely because of their fans. It is a huge advantage for us to get ahead without conceding when facing that kind of pressure.”

For the first time, I was happy Galatasaray lost a game and in the fashion they did.
Apparently, even an injured Osimhen is still more valuable to the team than the entire team is to itself.
I wanted to see what those selfish teammates of his would do without him and it was glaring afterall that wether they like it or not they’ve been riding on Osimhen’s talent all along. It’s obvious it’s Osimhen who has carried them on his back for the last 2 seasons……so the earlier they swallow their jealousy the better.
Even with a broken wrist the game was still balanced but whey they had their time in the sun to shine after Osimhen was subbed off, they were huffing and puffing upfront while the defence was getting bruised and battered at the back…… LMAOOO.
4-0, 5-0, 5-1……those are the kinds of scorelines they record once Osimhen isn’t available, yet outshining him when he should be their go to guy on the pitch is always their priority when he plays. I was expecting Baris (the ring leader) and the rest to now show the world they are on the same level with their “competitor” but they all went limp from the moment he was subbed off….. LMAOOO.
Good comment. But you need to tell oshimen that he’s wasting away at Galatasaray.
Messi got he got because he was in big club with big stars.
Same with Ronaldo
Same with Eto
Even KANU
I just hope oshimen can do something about this.
His talent is too huge for him to waste away at this Turkish club.
Hahahaha……So he should go and force himself into the hands of clubs right….??
He should accept the 65k per week wage they are dangling in front of him……LMAOooo. Or maybe he should just pack his boots and go lace them for clubs who are not willing to meet the price tag placed on him by his owners.
A player is living his best life, enjoying his football whilst still maintaining his reputation as one of the most feared and respected strikers on the planet, and busybodies are claiming he is “wasting away”……..LMAOoo.
Wasting away like Liam Delap…..? Or wasting away like Nicolas Jackson.
@MONKEY POST, this story is crying for your comment o. I’m shocked that you skipped it, and no word from you yet on it.
He is allergic to great men talking up Osimhen. He normally develops glaucoma, brain hemorrhage, and chronic gastritis at times like these, so you will never see him.
Let Godwin Okpara or Mobi Okparaku or any of those other jealous, jobless exinternationals grant their usual beer parlour interviews where they spill stark ignorance, the loudmouth will be here ranting for attention with the speed of light.
Lmao…I dont know the kind of post mind game this slot is trying to do here sha…
But no wonder liverpool is a bad champion according to legendary roy keane under his charge ..
I mean great players to them both halves is too much of a time to announce their greatness to the world….
What did osimhen do with the massive 6 minutes before the clash with konate? Absolutely nothing!
I remember when Vinícius Júnior in the champions league Scored 14 seconds after coming on for Real Madrid against Shakhtar Donetsk
Also Declan Rice scored in the second minute for Arsenal in their 3-0 Champions League win against Dinamo.
Conor Gallagher scored in 28 seconds for Atlético de Madrid vs. Real Madrid…..
What about Anthony Gordon: Scored in the 3rd minute for Newcastle against Qarabag in February 2026.
Timo Werner: Scored for Chelsea against Zenit in just 1 minute and 23 seconds. I can go on and on……
And we’ave had great players while being injured on the pitch still maintain their resilience and scored before being substituted…
Players like Alessio Zerbin (Napoli, 2025): After suffering an injury to his head upon hitting the crossbar, Zerbin returned to the pitch and scored two goals within two minutes before being subbed.
Even great players like fabregass too in a Champions League quarter-final against Barcelona, was fouled late in the match, resulting in an injury but played through and scored a penalty before being substituted…..
So what are we talking about???
If you are great you are great abeg….
Dude is just lazy and big for nothing….
Osimhen is born to be great. He has always been a super star right from u-17 days. I’ve been following him from u-17 world cup where he scored a record 10 goals in the tournament. He has always shine everywhere he plays except at Wolfsburg due to injuries and fitness issue. So no one need Arne Slot validation to confirm his talent.
He’s a kind of player that even his teammates envy a lot. This jealousy and envy didn’t just start today. He start right from Lille. The likes of Jonathan Ikonne and some of his teammates would rather shoot at tight angle than pass to me. Then he goes to Napoli, Insigne was even worst. Then he left the next season. Other wingers also started their selfish play. Then they brought in Kvara who put himself in contention with Osimhen to be the face of the team even when it is obvious Osimhen was the main man. Osimhen only enjoy his game more in the super eagles cuz he get all the supplies and he also enjoy his game at Sporting Chaleroi before he move to Lille.
All these jealousy is as a result of the kind of fans love Osimhen get and the connection he shared with them whenever he score. His teammates are aware of all these hence the envy and jealousy. It is evident in how they play whenever Osimhen is off. They play like headless chicken. You can see that in their last match against Liverpool.
Also Buruk to me is not a good coach to me at all. Because why will you have Sane, Gundogan on the bench then you don’t know how to get them in the game. He has been poor in his selection and substitution.
Futhermore, Osimhen is a glorious man so all this enviness is expected. Even some of our super eagles ex players envy his talent. The only thing some of them and other African legends have over Osimhen is AFCON Trouphy and Champions league and world cup appearance. In no time, he will shatter the record of our legend Rashidi Yekini and go on to be the all time best super eagles strikers.
Lastly, if he sees a reasonable offer from Bayern Munich or Barcelona he should consider it so he can reach his potential and win major trophy like the champions league. Another thing i notices in Osimhen performance is that sometimes he put himself so much under pressure to the point of missing wanting chances. This could be as a result of limited supplies he get from teammates so whenever the chance comes, he sometimes becomes so anxious and rush is attempt on goal
Hahahaha you didnt follow him from the womb???
Only under 17 days??? Hahaha…
Una go explain tire…..
But thank you said he was born “to be” great…not born great….hahahaha
Cos some are born great…
While others work for it…(“to be”)
So when after so much toiling, nothing seems to be working, it is conspiracy theorists like you that begin to invent all sort of narratives and fallacies…hahahaha….
The season where he won the golden booth award in napoli, there was no envy and jealousy….hahahaha
But the next season when pride swallowed him and he started fighting with coach garcia and napoli fans and this affected his confidence in front of goal….his game diminished! Envy now entered the subject…. hahahaha…..
When he was blazing the tolotolo league with goals, there was no envy but when tranzonspor brought back the king onuachu from southampton and the guy since then has been sitting confortable as no 1 on the scorers chart….The players of gala are envying him now entered the matter……hahahahaha
When he scored against Liverpool,….
Scored a brace against Bodø/Glimt……
And a hatrick against Ajax…
Gala players (who assisted him) are envying him hasnt entered the subject… hahahahaha
But now dude found life a living hell at anfield…hahahaha
And is out of the champions league…hahahaha
The so called conspiracists are out again saying they are envying him…hahahaha…
Hohahaha……KEL, why did you play “fetch” with someone’s offspring…..L<MAOO
The public lout had nothing to say and had to go scouse all available AI LLM apps to get off points to vomit here………LMAOoo…..as if football is played for 5 minutes…….LMAOooo
I guess all those players mentioned played and scored with a fractured bone in their bodies
Fact Remains, It is a World Cup Year, and With Nigeria not qualifying for the World Cup, will make Osimhen’s Move to a Bigger club even More Difficult now Gala Is Out because this was the opportunity for him to Prove his Point. come next transfer window, go and Mark it some where Teams will be more focused on stand out players from the World Cup this will be where the Transfer Attention will be not Osimhen!!
Osimhen whether we like it or not, is not develpoing in the manner he would have had he made the move 2 years ago and been at a Top League by now. Gala has made him Complacent you don’t see that Hunger in his play he does not make the right Attacking runs into Attacking positions, the midfield in Gala is so Average it does not feed him and that is adding to mould his game in the wrong way, aslo the Lack of Competition at Gala of which the Opposite at Napoli which helped to Propel him to the Player he became and the Drive he still had in his first season at Gala (Now Faded) is not helping his Developement either. So All in all Gala if we had to be honest with ourself and Summerise and rate the Move, Will be a Faliure!!.. And unfortunately a World Cup year will not work in his favour come Next Transfer Window. Definitely England Will be Out of the Question English Clubs and Spain and Germany always go for Top Perfomers in World Cup in a World Cup year!
No haba why are you talking like this @ugo??
Big clubs will come for him na…
Havent you be reading the news???
Beyern are coming for him as a replacrment for kane…
And barcelona are coming for him as a replacement for lewy….hahahaha
They must come for him o….
But still Thank you @ugo I love your analysis…it is purely based on football not some conspiracists spreading fallacies that gala players, some super eagle and ex se players are envying him….hahahaha…
They are refusing to pass the ball to him….hahahaha
Very soon those conspiracists will say beyern and barcelona are jealous of osimhen success that’s why they don”t want to sign him no more…..hahahaha…
